I could feel my eyes become heavy as I rested my head on the desk, I always managed to find myself taking a two-minute nap whenever my head was on the desk. All these overthinking and restless nights are finally getting the best of me, a small sigh escapes my lips as I let my eyes close.
A light knock on the desk awoke me from my tired state; I lifted my head to see a tall figure standing with files in their hands. I rub my eyes and slip on my glasses, "Are you sure you're okay? This is the third time this week I've caught you falling asleep," Wonwoo said, placing the folders on the desk as he pulled the small stool over and sat on it. "Yes, Woo, I'm fine; where are your glasses?" I asked, seeing that he wasn't wearing them and was struggling to see what was on the folder. "I didn't lose them..." He says as he puts the folder down, I look at him with furrowed brows. "They ran off," He said with a cheeky grin, a scoff escaped my lips as I shook my head.
I open the drawer on my left side and grab the familiar black case, "Yah, consider yourself lucky. You lost these last week, only they weren't lost. You misplaced them." I said, handing him his glasses. Wonwoo looks at them with a frown, "I purposely misplaced them because of the color of the frame." He said, crossing his arms. I looked at his glasses, which were a fine pair; the frames were slightly translucent but were a beige-like color. "The frame isn't ugly, Wonwoo, they're cute. Besides, you're lucky to have to wear this frame. I have to wear the most disgusting ones." I said. Placing the glasses on him, I adjusted them. I pushed his loose strand out of the way, "And not to mention...you're not bad looking." I said, feeling my heart pound against my ribcage.
"I'm sure you'll have every nurse and phlebotomist on this floor drooling over you," I said with a faint smile and turned to face the computer. Wonwoo snickers at my words, "As if I need them to drool over me; I don't need that many women drooling over me." He says, crossing his arms. I look at him through the reflection of the desktop, "No? Then how many do you need? 500?" I asked bitterly. Wonwoo laughs and playfully smacks my forearm; I look at him. "Nope..." He said and sat up straight, "I only need one, no more than that." Wonwoo says with a shy smile. I nodded and turned my gaze back to the desktop, "Well, Mr. Jeon, don't you have diagnostics to run?" I asked looking at the time. "Right, almost forgot, did you give Mrs. Choi her test results?" Wonwoo asked, getting up from the stool.
I look at him, confused, "You didn't leave the file like you said? I thought maybe you had forgotten," I said. Wonwoo gave me a concerned look, "I left it on your desk exactly at 4 O'clock, Mitxy," He said, covering his mouth in shock. My eyes widen in fear as I open the file cabinet, "No no no, I didn't see Mrs. Choi's file on my desk. Was there someone else in my office when you came by?" I asked, rampaging through the files. My heart was racing at the thought of Mrs. Choi's file missing, Wonwoo became aware of how worried and scared I am. "Dr. Park was looking for you but no one else was here," Wonwoo said, I slammed shut the cabinet.
I rushed to my desk and began to search every drawer for Mrs. Choi's file; I could feel the tears starting to swell up in my eyes as I flipped through the files in the drawer. "I have to find it; it couldn't just disappear. And I don't want Mrs. Choi to come back to get drawn again." I said, my voice slightly cracking as I moved more files out of the way.
"Mitxy, I'll ask Dr. Park if he by any chance got a hold of the file," Wonwoo says as he grabs my shaky hands, "Wonwoo, have you heard what happened to the nurses and the past Phlebotomist who made mistakes when it came to his mother?" I sob quietly as I grip my hair in frustration. Wonwoo bit his lip almost like he was holding back a smile or laugh, "Why are you finding this amusing?" I cry. Wonwoo crouched and wiped my tears, "Aigoo, were you that easily fooled by the rumors?" He asked with a smile.
I sniffle lightly and look at him, confused, "What? Rumors?" I asked. Wonwoo chuckles as he grabs tissues and wipes away the nonstop tears falling, "Mitxy, they're just rumors spread by nurses and other members in the medical that had bad experiences with Seungcheol." Wonwoo states as he fixes my hair. I bite my lip and sobbed even more in embarrassment; Wonwoo laughs lightly as he brings me into his chest. "Tsk, stop crying, will you? We'll find Mrs. Choi's file," Wonwoo said he sucked at comforting me; he's always great when it came to comforting Suzy or Nayeon, but with me, it was strange but somewhat okay.
Wonwoo helps me up from the floor, "Choi Seungcheol, aigoo...I don't get how Christopher is thinking of setting me up with him." I said sitting on my chair and crossing my arms. Wonwoo looks at me, "Christopher is trying to set you up with Seungcheol?" He asked. I sighed and nodded, "Yeah I didn't know till I found out from Jihoon." I said with a frown. "I did tell him off for doing something he shouldn't have," I added, Wonwoo nodded and looked at the time. "I should head back to the lab, I'll ask Dr. Park about Mrs. Choi's file," Wonwoo said with a small smile before leaving my office.
I let out a sigh of relief and leaned into my chair. Wonwoo...I wouldn't call him a close friend since we merely met three weeks ago and managed to get along. Joshua has known Wonwoo for -who knows how long; those two were always together at work and out of work. I don't think Wonwoo and I ever found ourselves falling into a deep conversation about anything that would bring us closer; Wonwoo was a timid and quiet guy. He usually keeps to himself, which I completely understand since we've only met recently. One thing for sure is that Wonwoo is a very intriguing man.
