A Princess and The Princess

Khadija paced back and forth in her room filled with rage. She had expected a grand welcoming for the girl they had rescued and brought home, but she hadn't expected it to go the way it did. Being one of the most sort after ladies in the Nephilim world, it angered her to watch all the young noble, royal and highborn men bend over backward to meet the girl.

What pained her most was the fact that Philip spent the entire evening with Ann. He paid no attention to her. She thought they had something special, now she knew better. He was supposed to be joined with her eventually. Judging by the way things were now, it was obvious she had a real competition or no competition at all. She wasn't a candidate, not anymore.

"Can you believe what happened at the banquet?" Khadija asked Cindy still pacing about the room. "It was as if we didn't exist. To think that we risked our lives to bring that girl here and Mother didn't even have the decency to acknowledge and commend us for our bravery."

Knowing the way things worked in the Nephilim realm, the politics there wasn't so different from that of the human realm. A form of commendation or recognition from the great goddess would have gained them high points, which would elevate their status, position, and relevance in the realm.

Ever since Khadija crossed over she had craved power and pursued it. That was why she wanted to be joined with Philip. He was her ticket to power and control but judging by what she saw happen at the banquet, getting him interested would no longer be easy and she had caused it. After all, she was the one that brought the girl home.

"Watch your tongue Khadija." Folake cautioned her. "That girl is the princess. She is a gift to our kind and humankind. Talking about mother like that can get you in trouble. We could get in trouble for listening."

Khadija and Lola were fed up. They had had enough. The way people spoke about the girl, one would think she was some kind of an all-powerful being. The girl that they had brought with them was nothing but a weak, clueless, useless piece of trash. If their fate depended on her then they were truly doomed.

"I am a princess too you know." Khadija corrected Folake "I deserve respect and recognition too. In fact, we all do. We risked our lives to bring her here. If it wasn't for us she would have been captured by now."

"And you have the respect," Cindy pointed out. "Nobody disrespected you at the party. Don't try to make it sound as if it's about us. None of us had a problem with what happened at the banquet. So please keep your complaints to yourself before you get us all in trouble."

"Are you saying what Philip did was alright?" Khadija asked Cindy angrily. She was supposed to be on her side. They were a team. They were supposed to be like sisters.

Cindy had had enough of Khadija complaints. Everybody knew that there was nothing between Philip and Khadija, but Khadija in her usual way would always find a way to make everything about her.

Khadija's question shocked Cindy and she didn't bother to hide it. The girl was clearly delusional.
