Chapter 2: Daniel

"You're up so early."

I smile and set my phone down, stretching out on the couch. "I've been up since five, mom. I was way too excited to sleep! I get to start working towards being a good dominant and getting assigned a submissive!"

"I know, honey. You've talked about it for months."

"Is this how you felt? When you were getting ready for your dominance courses?"

Mom smiles as she joins me on the sofa. "I was a bit more nervous than you, but that wasn't because of the classes. Do you know how many guys insisted I was in the wrong classes?"

"People like that are the worst. But Linton has an okay ratio of doms of any gender! So hopefully, there won't be a ton of people like that to give female-presenting doms trouble."

"Hopefully. Your father made breakfast before he went to work. Omelets."

"I'll remember to thank him later, 'cause I'm starving."

"You're always 'starving.'"

"I'm a growing boy, mom."

Mom rolls her eyes and tosses a pillow at me. "You can't use that excuse anymore. You're definitely done growing."

"We don't know that for sure!"

"Just go eat your omelets, Daniel. But leave your dishes in the sink. I'll wash them later. You get a day off of doing chores."

I toss the pillow back onto the couch, nodding as I walk into the kitchen. There's even a sticky note tacked onto the cabinet above the plate of omelets, written in Dad's bold handwriting.

~Have a great orientation, Danny! Don't get too ahead of yourself, and just enjoy this experience. There's no hurry! <3~

I smile and grab the note to add to my ever-growing collection of notes from my parents before plating up some of the omelets. "Sausage and bacon?! Today really is special!" I hop over the back of the couch (carefully, of course, balancing my food) to watch the news with Mom.

"The Crawford family's other two sons are starting at Linton too," Mom informs me.

I look up from my plate, watching the broadcast as the newscaster continues droning on about the Crawfords as an image is shown on the screen of the entire family. I've only ever spoken to the oldest one, Cameron, when hanging out with some friends of mine. I had heard a lot about one of the younger ones, though. Cameron talked about him a lot, and showed me enough photos that I can tell the twins apart.

"That one's Jace," I tell mom, pointing at the one on the left of their family photo. "Cameron talks about him all the time. Apparently the other one is rude, but I've never met the twins."

"I feel bad for those boys. They've been in the media since birth."

"Jace wasn't. Cameron said they kept him out of the spotlight for personal reasons."

Mom hums. "I wonder why."

"Maybe he had medical problems? Or mental health problems? I know Avery was homeschooled for a few years because his anxiety disorder was that bad. Oh! Speaking of, I'm going to pick him up on my way to school, so he doesn't have to walk."

"Don't hit his mailbox this time, Daniel." Mom's trying to keep her voice stern, but she's smiling. She had been a little mad when it first happened, but she's long since gotten over that.

"I promise, I won't."

"And tell his mom that we still have to meet up for brunch sometime."

"I will. Hey, look. They're broadcasting them leave the house. God, that would be so freaky. First day at Linton and there's TV cameras in your face." I frown, glancing at the clock. "Why are they leaving so early? It-That's a whole Rolls Royce! Holy shit!" I lean a little closer, studying the car, but then the two sons catch my attention again.
