Chapter 13: Jace
My head hurts so much. Daniel is still gently running his hand through my hair, and I don't want him to stop even if my head throbs more any time I move my head. It makes me feel safe, and makes this warm feeling wash over me.
"How much did you drink, Jace?"
"Mmm...lots."
"How many is 'lots'?"
"Dunno...five..."
Daniel's hand stills. "Jace! You're pretty small...that's so much. No wonder you're slurring so much. How did you get here?"
"Uberrrr. Or lyft. Dunno." I press myself close to Daniel, rubbing my head against his hand which is still frustratingly not moving.
"Jace..."
I just whine at him, giving him a puppy-dog look until he starts playing with my hair again. "Yaaaay."
Daniel sighs, looking down at me. I can't figure out the look on his face, though. My vision is too fuzzy. "Cameron should be here soon. So he can explain everything."
Hnnnn...Why's he not listening?! "I did thatttt! I'm a sub!"
"Yes, Jace, I know that you said that, I just...It doesn't make sense. Why would your result say dom, then?"
"It's a liiie."
"A lie? What do you...Cameron's here." Daniel pushes himself off the couch, going up to the door.
I whine and curl up in his vacant spot, already missing my hair being played with. Cameron basically shoves Daniel aside to rush up to me, and I giggle softly when he grabs my face.
"Jace, what the hell were you thinking?" Cameron demands. He's not yelling, but it still makes me tear up some more, so he sighs. "Jace, you could have gotten hurt. I've been looking for you for hours! Where were you?"
I frown, trying really hard to think about everything, but I don't really remember. "I dunno."
"Where did you get the alcohol, Jace?"
"Club Aurora."
"Jace! You're not old enough to go in there! You're only 18!"
I shrug, whining when my stomach lurches. "Owwww."
Cameron just shakes his head at me, turning my face this way and that. "I don't see any signs of alcohol poisoning...But you're going to have a hell of a hangover...God, Jace, what were you thinking?"
"Cameron," Daniel says after a beat of silence. Cameron hums as he starts lifting me off the couch, so Daniel keeps talking. "Jace...called himself a lie. And a sub."
Cameron freezes, then settles me back onto the couch and turns away from me. "What?"
"What does he mean by that?"
"Jace...Jace says a lot of things when he's drunk."
I whine louder and try and stand up, but I just flop back onto the couch, whimpering in pain. "Noooo! Wanna tell him!!"
"Jace...you're drunk. I don't want you to do something that's going to upset you tomorrow. You aren't in a headspace to make that kind of decision."
I try to throw a pillow at him but end up smacking myself because I can't let it go in time to fling it. "I wannnnnna! I WANNA! NOW!"
"Jace, stop that."
I bite my lip at Cameron's tone of voice, but I'm still whining childishly. Want Daniel to know so maybe he'll like me and I can be me around him instead of fake Jace. "Tell him...Pleaaaaase." I think I'm crying again, but I can't tell.
