Meg's POV
*At my Hotel*
It's been 2 months since Christian and I started dating which is also the last time I saw him. I miss him like crazy. We talk everyday and FaceTime as often as possible but it's not the same. I've had some rough games and needed hugs a few times but couldn't because I'm in Japan.
Tomorrow is a big day, it's the Gold Medal Game. We're playing Mexico for the gold and Ken has me catching and batting 3rd like he has all tournament. I'm super excited but also sad because Christian can't be here with me because he's in the All Star Game and homerun derby.
My brother and sister are here which is amazing because I haven't seen them in so long from all of my traveling and they're both in school too. I looked at Bubba and Ali to see if they cared if I called Christian and they didn't so I FaceTimed him to help my nerves because I am really nervous. He picks up after a few rings, "Hey gorgeous."
"Hey, are you driving right now," I ask curiously.
"Yes and let me tell you, I miss my truck. This little shit box rental sucks."
I shake my head at him, "You and that truck babe. Wait, is that a dunks cup, did you go to Dunks?"
"Yea. Matthew, Mia, and I went earlier because I'm in Boston and the three of us have been trying to meet each other since we started dating. They called me uncivilized for never having Dunks before."
I laugh knowing that they are right. "How's brauny and them? They excited for the ASG?"
"Brauny and lo cain definitely are excited to say the least. They won't shut up."
"Where are you? Is that Logan," I ask slightly concerned because he's supposed to be getting ready for the red carpet right now.
He pauses before answering, "No, and why aren't you asleep? You have the gold medal game tomorrow against Mexico."
"I can't sleep babe. I've been trying but I just can't."
"Talk to me baby what's going on? Why can't you sleep," He asks obviously concerned.
"It's nerves CY. I'm really starting to feel the pressure right now because I've been the main producer on the team this whole tournament and I can't handle the pressure right now I just can't and my knee is killing me again and everybody is looking to me to perform and I just don't know Christian."
"You've hit 6 homeruns the whole tournament so that's gotta count for something right because I mean your stepping up and producing like you always do."
"But I'm the only one doing it Christian. I've hit all 6 of the homeruns for the entire tournament, that's where I'm feeling the pressure. And we barely beat Mexico last time we played them. Only reason we won was because of my homerun in the bottom of the 7th," I sigh before I continue, "I'm sorry babe. It's just a lot and like the College World Series wasn't even this stressful last year."
He looks sympathetic towards before saying, "It's gonna be stressful because they expect nothing less from you baby. You gotta continue to play Meg Hansbury softball and everything will fall into place. Be better then the player they expect you to be." I try to protest but he cuts me off, "No, no excuses Meg. Step up and get it done meg. I've been listening to the announcers and watching the pregame and the post game for all of your games and I know everyone is hot on you and expect big things from you so do it. Be better then they expect, don't give them reason to be skeptical. Show everyone wrong. Like you always do."
