Meg's POV
*At Nana's House*
About ten minutes after me and Christian went inside, my brother and sister showed up. And then ten minutes after them, my dad. Then, it was time for dinner. The time of day I was dreading most. Mostly because I wasn't sure what dad was going to say, like ever.
"Dad, how are you?"
"Fine. Who's this?"
"Dad, this is my boyfriend, Christian. Christian, this is my dad."
"It's nice to meet you Mr. Hansbury." Christian says and extends his hand to shake it, surprisingly dad accepts and shakes it back. Maybe there's some hope for the day. Dad calls Christian into the living room alone before dinner starts.
Christian's POV
Meg's dad pulls me into the living while the table is being set and stuff. "Please, call me Dave. Mr. Hansbury is too formal. So Christian, tell me about yourself. Where are you from and what do you do?"
"I'm from Southern California and I play left field for the Milwaukee Brewers."
"Ahh, so that's where my oldest is moving to after graduation. Good to know. Did you go to college first or were you drafted out of high school?""I was drafted out of high school. To Miami, but was traded to Milwaukee two years ago."
"How long have you been dating my daughter?"
"About 6 months. I've known her for 7 and I can say with full certainty that I am so deeply in love with your daughter."
"Good, I'm glad. I haven't been the best father in recent years but I'm glad there's someone looking out for her. Ever since my wife died, I've been miserable and awful to my children. But recently I felt, what I'm hoping was my wife knocking sense into me, something different in my heart and in my head. I think I'm starting to accept it and heal from it and realize that the love of my life might be gone, my wife is alive and well through all three of our kids. I know that meg has probably told you how awful I have been to her but I am promising to you and to her that I am going to do better. I can see in your eyes that you love my daughter, correct?"
"More than anything." I smile unintentionally at the thought of meg.
"Good. I know I have only met you today but I am giving you my permission. Ask when you are ready. I'm giving you my blessing to ask her. My only request is that you treat her better then I have. Treat her like the queen that she is and give her the world."
"I plan on it sir."
"Has she told you yet?"
"That she can't have kids, yes. I have already told her that it doesn't matter to me. I don't need her to have my children in order to be happy. She is more then enough. She's everything to me."
"I'm glad she found you. I'm wishing you the best. I can already tell you that she's going to say yes whenever you ask. And I'm going to apologize to her later today. If she wants you to be there, then by all means but I'm going to do everything in my power to make it up to her and to fix everything with all of my kids."
"Thank you. I think they are getting ready to start dinner."
"Yea, I can hear my mother calling me to carve the turkey."
We head back to the rest of the family and Meg gives me a questioning look probably asking what that was about. I give her a reassuring smile and nod which causes her to smile. I'm so deeply in love with her it's not funny.
