I entered Gaius's apartment early on the next morning, ready to leave whenever Merlin and Hunith were ready. "'Sup, everyone. You'll be pleased to hear I've prepared a special playlis–" I trailed off and froze when I noticed that Gwen was also in the room. "A play... a list of games we can play on the road."
"Great," Merlin grumbled, while Gwen gave me a confused look. I responded with a pressed smile and dropped my backpack on the floor before moving to sit at the kitchen bench, next to Hunith, and carefully placing the bow I'd snuck from the armoury beside me.
My best friend raised an eyebrow as he asked, "Did you steal from the armoury?"
"No," I quickly responded. "I borrowed from it."
"Did you tell anyone?"
"Well... no."
"So you stole."
"Shut up."
A chuckle from Gwen ended the argument and I watched in confusion as she unsheathed a sword, which she handed to my friend. "Tell me how it feels?" she asked.
Merlin looked it over while nodding repeatedly, "Yeah... that feels... that feels really good." I exchanged amused looks with Hunith and Gaius. "It is very... you know... swordy."
I snorted, "Swordy?" earning a glare from the sorcerer.
"I have also packed some armour for you," Gwen then informed while motioning towards a bag that laid on the floor.
"Thank you, but we will not be able to carry all that," he replied, giving her a sad look.
"You will not have to," Morgana stated as she abruptly entered the room. I raised an eyebrow upon noticing that she was wearing her riding attire, rather than her usual dresses. Then I shared a confused look with Merlin. "We are coming with you," the Lady announced while grinning.
My jaw dropped as my eyes darted between her and Gwen. I've seen how great they are as humans, but this is a whole other level! Perhaps we should overthrow the Pendragons and put Morgana on the throne...
"What do you mean?" Merlin questioned them.
"You are going to need all the help you can get. I can mend armour and sharpen swords," Gwen noted while smiling sweetly up at the boy, who returned the grin and held her gaze for a few moments.
"I'll catch you up–" I whispered to Hunith, "they're in love." She gave a faint chuckle in response.
"And I know how to fight," Morgana added with a smirk. I grinned at the girls, feeling incredibly grateful that they're willing to do this for us... well, for Merlin, I guess.
