Chapter 21: Netflix and cookies

beep! beep! beep!

I wake up because of the ringing coming from the alarm on my phone. I reach my arm out to grab the device from my nightstand in order to turn off the alarm. 

After the beeping finally stops I flip back over in my bed and internally debate whether I want to sleep longer or actually get up right now.

I decide on the latter option of the two and roll to where I'm laying on my back. I stretch my body and slowly bring my arms down to wipe the sleep away from my eyes as I attempt to open them. 

And as soon as I open my eyes I'm met with the sunlight seeping in from between my curtains where they weren't fully pulled closed.

I stood up and stretched out some more having just stood up for the first time this morning. 

I made my way to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth, brushed my hair out, and did the rest of my basic morning hygiene things.

I went to my closet to pick out an outfit. Today I was gonna be going over to Clay's house to hangout. Sapnap was out doing something today, not sure what though, so it'd just be the two of us. I didn't really know what we were doing, but I assumed we would just be hanging out.

I grabbed a pair of black leggings and a loose long-sleeve grey t-shirt. I put that on quickly and did some light makeup. I ran my fingers through my hair one last time before grabbing my things and heading out.

All I had was my keys, wallet, phone, and AirPods. 

By the time I finally left home it was about 11:45 am. I got to my car and started making my way over to Clay's place. It was around lunchtime so there was a bit of traffic due to people starting to get on their lunch break, but it wasn't too bad. 

I got to Clay's around 12:05 pm. I parked my car on the road in front of the house and walked up to the front door. I knocked twice before someone answered.

It was Clay. He was wearing grey sweatpants and a loose white short sleeved t-shirt. He looked down at me and he was smiling a bit. I looked up at him and smiled back, a small laugh escaping my lips. 

"Hi Clay. Can I come in, or...?" I questioned seeing as he was blocking the doorframe.

He seemed to snap out of his gaze a slight pink tint appearing on his cheeks, just barely noticeable. He moved out of the way and welcomed me in. 

That was odd. Why was he just staring at me...?

I took my shoes off as soon as I entered the house. Clay started walking towards their kitchen so I just followed him. He stood behind the bar counter thing while I took a seat on one of the stools on the front side of it, opposite from him.

"So, Briar, what d'ya wanna do? We can watch Netflix, we could like... make something to eat, I don't know bout you but I haven't had lunch. We could go out and get something to eat? I dunno, what do you wanna do?" Clay asked me.

"I don't know. Any of those sound fine to me," I said. I'm a rather indecisive person so I really don't like being asked to make decisions.

"Oh! I've got an idea."

"Yeah? What is it?"

"What if we like... make cookies or something, then watch a movie?"

"Yeah, that sounds like it'll be fun. Um, do you have all the stuff to make cookies?"

"One sec, I think so..." is what Clay said as he walked over to his fridge. He opened the door, stood there looking for something for a seconds, then grabbed something and closed the door behind himself. "Aha! I knew this was in there," he said a triumphant smile on his face as he sat down the packet if cookie dough onto the counter.
