~These are thoughts~
Nakano POV
We walked off the bus and saw Nekoma staring at us. We lined up and stared at them for a moment before I jumped on Kuroo. "CHURROOO!" I screamed as I hugged him, but I didn't see him blushing. I turned to Kenma, "KENMAAAA!" I yelled as I also hugged him. "I can't call you pipsqueak anymore," Kuroo said as sad as he could, "But your still shorter than me!" He shouted as took off. "GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE CHUROO!" I screeched as I ran after him. I caught up to him and tackled him to the ground. "I win!" I yelled as I shot back up after sending him to the floor. "No you don't!" He yelled as he pulled my foot out from under me.
We both limped back to our teams to see Daichi and Yaku standing there with their hands on their hips. Everyone else already went inside.
We made the parents angry. RUN!
Churro and I ran into the gym so we could start warming up. I walked in to see another version of Tanaka crying on the floor once he saw me.
I quickly walked over to our side of the court and started to stretch and warm-up.
"Thank you for the game!" And we began.
Asahi received Kenma's serve and then the duo did their quick attack, which got us a point.
Tanaka served and their number six received it and Kenma set to mohawk. Noya popped it up and Hinata was a decoy while Asahi got us another point. Hinata missed his serve so Noya had to go right back in.
Keishin's POV
As the game went on I could slowly hear Nakano asking to be put in. The longer the set went on, the more I could feel her eyes in the back of my head, but she will wait. Noya and Nakano are both amazing, but she needs to learn that she has to fight for her court time, even though this is her last year. Nakano will play even better when she has to fight for her time on the court.
Nakano can read spikers like an open book when she isn't on the court. She needs this time to read their playing styles and habits. Once she does, she is fully ready to play, and Nekoma isn't ready for that.
Nakano's POV
I was zoned out until I heard the team cheering. I looked at the score; 7-10. We were winning, but I wasn't helping. The team went back in and I heard Keishin say he had a bad vibe about Nekoma.
Hinata did another quick, but Nekoma's middle almost got a finger on it. I looked to see that their blockers were all on the side. Oh my god, they were trying to trap Hinata. "Keishin," I called, "Look." He glanced at them and saw what I meant, he slightly paled.
Once they get Hinata, we're over.
Kenma pulled off a setter dump, but Hinata was to tense to get it.
They attempted a feint, but Tanaka got it and Noya passed to Kageyama, who did a perfect line shot. Tsukishima pulled a perfect feint and got us another point.
The set continued with neither team getting the lead.
They have stable receives so their setter has a lot more options. None of them look like an ace either.
I glanced to see that Nekoma was at match point. They served and Noya did a perfect receive to Kageyama who did the quick with Hinata, but it was blocked. We lost the first set.
We switched sides and Noya sat out, then the game began.
I had never retrieved so many blocked balls in my entire life.
Hinata kept calling for the sets, and kept getting blocked. It took everything I had to keep them in the air because of how quick Hinata moves.
I gave Keishin a death glare and saw the team tense up behind them. He knew that I knew what he was doing. I glared at him as to say, "Your going to keep him in even though he is an idiot." He just smiled in return. I swear if he smiles at me like that one more time- "We have bigger things than breaking up a fight between you and Coach," Daichi said holding me back. I glared at him and went back to the game.
Hinata called for one more set and jumped with his eyes open. He missed his swing and slipped on the landing, "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!" Suga and I screamed at the same time. "THAT'S IT TIMEOUT!" Keishin yelled right after.
"I want you to have the set slightly float when you set to Hinata. No more direct delivery. Can you do that?" Keishin asked. "I will do my best," Kageyama said. As everyone started to walk away I grabbed Keishin by his collar. I was taller than Keishin by two inches so I had to pull him up to my height.. "I know what your trying to do, but Hinata doesn't have the technique to pull this off," I said in his ear as I walked back onto the court.
Hinata. Got. Worse.
He couldn't even hit the ball now. After diving the fifth one I gave Keishin another glare. He paled once he saw me. Keishin called another time out after that.
I walked up to him and whispered in his ear, "I hate you so much right now." He knew what he was doing. I am way to competitive and refuse to let the ball drop, and I have a teammate that needs constant babysitting. It was a match made in hell. He can fumble while I have to get it. He played me so good.
We kept going until Hinata went from a line shot to a cross court. He changed his style. Instead of trying to power through like Asahi, he switched the direction of his hand. It went out, but that is a major improvement for him.
"One more."
I received the serve and passed it to Kageyama who set it to Hinata. Hinata missed again, but Daichi covered and sent it over the net. The rally lasted a minute before their "Ace", Yamamoto, hit it through our block.
Kenma served it and nailed Hinata straight in the face, I covered it and passed to Tanaka who got a point off the block.
"Good aim Kenma!" I called out to him. Daichi hit me in the back of the head for saying it.
Hinata got a one touch and I covered and passed to Kageyama who set it to Hinata again, but he finally got a point off of it.
The set continued and Kuroo got put back in. "Hold on Kuroo, it's gonna be a bumpy ride," I called out from the back.
The duo did their usual quick and got us another point.
The game went on and Hinata returned another spike with his face. Nekoma did a back attack followed by an a-quick which got them another point. Then they threw in a delayed spike which shook off our blockers.
"ATTACK WITH OUT FULL POWER!" Keishin screamed. It caused the whole team to get riled up and start attacking even more.
We were about to tie when they pulled a feint and got the lead. Tanaka got us a point which evened us out again. We rotated into our prime offensive rotation which was going to make it interesting in the late game.
The last rally lasted forever, but ended with the ball landing at the very end of our court.
Nekoma won in straight sets.
After three games we eventually stopped. Coach Nekomata came and talked to us before we left. He complimented Hinata and Kageyama on their quick. Then he complimented Tanaka and Asahi for their power. Lastly he turned me and said, "I thought Kenma was good at observing his opponents, but I think that you are even better than he is," he said as he turned back to the team. Once he was done we helped Nekoma clean up the gym.
"I'm going to miss you guys!" I said as I hugged Kuroo and Kenma. "We're gonna miss you too. Goodbye Nakano," they said in unison. "Bye," I said over my shoulder.
With that we got on the bus and started our drive back to Karasuno.
