The heart is the map ALLAH has placed into your chest to guide you through life; it is the compass that you should follow no matter what. When your heart shows you a certain goal, follow it. You will more than often reach the goal that your heart has shown you, but there are some goals that your heart shows you and you don't reach them even though you were walking into its direction. If this happens, many of us start to despair and think that we did the wrong thing, but you didn't. You did the right thing by walking into its direction. Because remember, the heart is just a compass; it shows you the way by showing you the direction you should take. If you don't reach a certain goal, it is because ALLAH has placed the actual goal/lesson on the journey to your goal. Because on the way to your goal, ALLAH wanted to show you certain things that you would've not seen if you didn't set out on the journey to reach the goal your heart showed you. And if you find yourself in the middle of the journey and you start feeling lost because you didn't reach your goal, listen ever so closely to your heart's tiniest whisper, because it will tell you everything you need to know. It will show you the real goal/lesson that you were too blind to see during the journey because you were so focused on reaching the destination. And it will also tell you which way to go from here on. So, get rid of any arrogance, fear, pride, perfectionism,... and listen to your heart with an open mind. Because the heart is the compass ALLAH placed into your body to guide you through this life.
