Gingersnap

Part 30 Halloween 2021

The boy sat at a table in front of Pennywise, bouncing his leg nervously and glancing around at every Ghost Face and Freddy Krueger that walked by.

"Don't worry, brother, Yuki said she'll be out in a couple minutes. This is such a cool seasonal side job for her." Al smiled across the table at Ed. "Did you see that clown behind you? What movie is that from?"

Ed glanced behind himself. “Oh, him? That’s Pennywise, from It. Creepy killer clown alien...thing.”

“Cool! We should see if Yuki can have us over for a horror movie night or something! We can have popcorn with different flavors like they have here." 

"Yeah the popcorn was a nice touch." He grabbed a handful of cheese flavored popcorn and dumped it into his mouth.

"Here she comes, brother!"

Ed quickly turned as Yuki, dressed as a cinematic Annabelle doll, arrived with a platter of food and drinks. First she placed their nachos, tacos, and Ed's burger and fries on the table. She then gave Al his glass of soda and chicken sandwich. "Last but not least: Jaws!"

Ed looked down into the huge clear bowl of light blue liquid. On top of the ice were gummy fish, and a plastic shark toy. Inside of the shark toy's mouth was Gingersnap, looking up at Ed with a look of sheer delight while the brothers gushed over her.

"Ginger, why don't you show these two the best part of this drink?" Yuki beamed.

"Okay Yuki!" Ginger climbed out of the shark's mouth and floated on a gummy. She then took the shark toy and dunked its mouth underwater, causing red fluid to leak into the drink and turning it bright red. "It's fruit punch flavor!" She grinned, grabbing onto the straw and then shivering a bit.

"It looks cold in there." Ed remarked.

"Well, I'd much rather go somewhere that's warm!"

"Well then you'd better hang on to that gummy fish raft." He grabbed the gummy with Ginger clinging to it, and quickly looked around to be sure no one else was watching, and dropped her into his mouth. He gently separated her from gummy and gulped her down before chewing and swallowing the gummy.

"Well? Did you like our surprise?"

Ed nodded up at Yuki, blushing a bit.

"That's my cub." Yuki smiled and patted his back. "Alright you two, let me know if you need anything else!" She ruffled Al's hair before bouncing back into the kitchen.

"Ed, your tummy is growling so much!" Ginger announced.

"I know, now that you're safe with me again, I can finally dig in." Ed took a few more gummies, then sipped from his big fruit punch bowl while slathering ketchup on his seasoned fries. Then, he took a big bite from his burger, getting hot sauce down his chin. Al tried some nachos before digging into his own sandwich.

They both happily ate their meals while listening to horror movie music over the speakers and watching the light displays on the ceiling and postered walls.

"Oh wow I'm pretty stuffed…" Ed leaned back and stroked his belly.

"Yeah I can tell!" Ginger giggled. "This was so much fun!"

"I'm pretty full myself! The food was delicious." Al added.

Yuki stopped by the table and ruffled their hair. "Did my cubs have fun? I got you guys a pretty good discount! Did you love our surprise?"

"Gosh Yuki where do you get your energy from?" Al chuckled then yawned. "We had a blast."

"I'll never tell!" Yuki snickered. "Well my shift ends in a few minutes and I'll take you kiddos home! I already thanked Denali a million times for taking you guys here. Have some more nachos, on the house!" She set a small pizza on the table and headed back towards the bar.

While Al was hesitant, Ed grabbed a slice and chowed down.

Once Yuki was done with her shift and the pizza box was empty, she took Ed and Al and Gingersnap back to their home. On the way, all three fell fast asleep in the back her car.
