The Night Time Routine

When I woke up again it was 9:00 AM. I still couldn't believe that Cody could get that horse to do that. He was calm one

second then crazy then calm again by one whip being in or out of Cody's hands. I brushed my long blond curly hair and

threw it into a braid hanging down my back. I went down the hallway and down the stairs.

" how was your first night here?" Cora asked.

" good" I said back.

" she sleeps very quietly" Blair said. " I didn't here a peep out of her."

That's because I wasn't there., I thought to myself. I scooped myself some scrambled eggs and begun to eat. I was

starving. I didn't look up until I had finished my eggs. Their was cinnamon rolls fresh out of the oven on the table. I

grabbed two of them along with everyone else. Their was six other kids here at the ranch including me.

Blair,Cody,Jenna,Bailey, Isaac, and me. Three girls, three boys.

" we are going on a trail ride after breakfast kids" Cora announced.

" yay" we all cheered. I just then realized that Cody was not at the table. Or the kitchen. Or the living room.

" Jenna, you will pony Puzzle And Blair you will pony Jigsaw." Cora said.

I leaned over the table to Blair." What's ponying?" I asked.

" it's when you tie the horse you will be walking along side you to the saddle so you can exercise two horses at once."

" which ones are Jigsaw and Puzzle?"

" Jigsaw is the brown and white pinto mini horse and Puzzle is the black and white mini horse." Blair explained." Their

adorable."
" ya. the reason we can't take Sundance is because she is going to have a foal soon." Jenna said.

" Mystic is also going to have a foal soon." Isaac added.

We got dressed in our ridding clothes and went to go tack up our horses. Magic was in her stall when I walked in the

barn and gave her a sugar cube, which she gobbled down. I brushed her in her stall and got her saddle on then went out

to the pasture to see if Blair needed help catching her horse. When I got out their I saw Cody standing on the rails of the

fence shouting out to Blair.
" slowly back up to her. Ya that's it. Nice. You caught her." He turned around to see who just came out of the barn and

bolted away as soon as he saw me. I helped Blair tack up her horse Beauty, a white paso fino mare. Beauty was a horse

that was hard to catch in the pasture, so apparently Cody helped Blair. One Beauty was tacked up, I went to go put on

Magic's bridle. She took the bit very nicely so I went to to join the others. Blair was on Beauty, Jenna was on Trixe, a

Rocky Mountain horse, Isaac was on Monty,a quarter horse, and Bailey was on Woody, a halfinger. Cody was not there

though. Blair and Jenna were right, Jigsaw and Puzzle were adorable. Their funny little manes flew everywhere. We

went through the woods had a picnic by the river.

When we finally got home it was time for chores. Luckily it was Thursday not Friday yet, so I could go to bed. As soon as

I got to my dorm I put on my spandex shorts and a tank top and crawled right into bed.

2:00 AM. Ugh I can't sleep. My mind is having a storm of thoughts. The one that kept coming back to me is me

wondering if Cody is in the barn right now. Their is only one way to stop that question from coming back to me. It's 2:07

by the time I'm in the barn watching Cody fly through a jump course bareback. Man he's good. The jumps look about

3ft tall. I can't even jump at all yet. I can tell that Fury is having fun by the way he pricks his ears up when Cody turns

him towards a jump. I can't quit watching they're so good. By 2:30 Fury is covered in sweat and is breathing heavily.

Cody slides off his back and goes to put the jumps away with Fury following close behind him. They are perfect for each

other. They are both unpredictable and violent. I run and hide in the hay loft when I see Cody and Fury walk my way.

" good boy Fury. You know, when people said you were a stupid, wild, beast that could never be controlled, I didn't

believe that and now look at you. Your a very good horse." He said. I was shocked to see Cody be so kind to that horse.

He seemed so mean.

It was 5:00 by the time I crawled into bed again. I had been watching Cody groom Fury all night. Man that horse is big. I

finally fell asleep when Blair got up. Around 8:30 I heard a knocking at my door

I scramble out of the bed to see who it was. It was Jenna wondering if I wanted to go on a trail ride with her

I agreed to go.
