I was happy. Really happy. I was surprised how Cody actually opened up to me that quick. I really understand why he is

a jerk. I am probably his only friend here. Blair walked into the room.

" hey, what's up?" She asked.

" nothing really" I said cheerfully.

" is it ok-" Blair hesitated." If I ask you a weird question?"

" ya sure. What is it?"

" well, when you first got here......... You told me you couldn't remember anything. Well when we were watching Spirit

that day, you remembered it." She said. I gasped. She was right. I had remembered it.

" I must remember things when I see them."

" ok" Blair responded. " one more thing, do you like Cody?????"

" why would you think that?" I snapped at her.

" cause he likes you. " she smiled." And your blushing." She walked away. Wow. Is it really that obvious? Can't be.

Later that night Cora announced that their would be a new kid coming tomorrow. It was a girl and she would be staying

in the dorm next to Blair and I. As I started to head out of the room, Cody jumped up from his seat. He ran and held the

door for me.

" goodnight" he whispered and shoved something into my sweatshirt pocket as I walked out the door. As soon as I was

out of sight of everyone, I took off towards my dorm. I ran into the bathroom when I got inside the dorm. My hands

sweaty as I unwrinkled the piece of paper in my pocket.

Meet me in barn @ 12:30 tonight.

It read. I was anxious. I crawled in bed early so I could get some sleep before I got up.

When I woke up it was 11:45. I got up, I put on my sweatshirt and sweatpants, brushed my hair, and grabbed a granola

bar to eat. I walked out into the night. I slowly opened the barn door and walked in. Cody was sitting on a tack box by

Magic' s stall.

" hey" he said.

" hi. So what did you want to tell me?" I asked.

" I cant tell to you here. It has to be private." He walked up to me and put a bandana around my eyes. " you'll be ok.

Trust me. "
Be lifted me into a horse's back and crawled on in front of me. The horse took off into the night. We went on for awhile

until I heard water rushing. The river. It sounded different from before, I noticed. Cody jumped off. I took off the

bandana and gave it to Cody. I realized I was sitting on Fury.

" now boy!" Cody screamed. I didn't realize what Cody meant until Fury reared up and started to freak out. I slid down

his back and hit the rocks. Hard. Everything was blurry. Cody was still speaking in a blurry voice.

" that story I told you about my parents and me, was a lie. Hahahahahahaha .you believed me. Idiot. Have a nice w-a-l-k

h-o-m-e his voice slowed down. Then everything went black.
