Wilbur put down the papers and sighed. He didn't know what to do.
Theseus Thomson wasn't a real person. Tommys papers were forged, Wilbur was sure of it. It wasn't exactly well covered up, almost as if Tommy (assuming it was forged by the kid) didn't ever expect him to get in a situation where he would need to have a background check done.
Stupid, considering if Wilbur were to guess the papers were forged to get this job.
Lots of signs pointed to suspicion, mainly that Tommy had made his middle name fucking Wife Haver , something Wilbur was sure no sane adult would ever do to their kid, but also that he could find no trace of the guy anywhere. He hadn't worked anywhere, he had no legal guardians ever but he was also never put under the care of authorities, he didn't have a driver's license, he had no record of even going to school .
Very suspicious for a self-proclaimed twenty-one-year-old.
Part of Wilbur suggested he should tell Phil, get the kid out of the building before he did any damage. Maybe he could tell Technoblade, after all this probably made Tommy look more suspicious and would contribute to his weird vigilante theory (which, the more Wilbur learned about Tommy, the more plausible it seemed).
But another part of him was attached. He'd only known the guy for a day or two, but he liked him. He had a spark and Wilbur liked that, and he generally seemed like a decent person. If he lied on his papers, Wilbur would hope that it was for a good reason.
Which is what brought him to now. He was sitting in Phil's stuffy old office, he'd asked Tommy to meet him there so they could discuss something important. He had Tommy's application in front of him and asked for some of Tommys legal documents (His birth certificate, social security card, and driver's license) and he'd hoped that it would all just be some weird mistake.
Tommy entered the room, this time wearing a collared shirt under a red sweater. He held a paper in his left hand which made Wilbur sigh in relief. He did have documentation proving his existence, a good start to say the least.
"Sorry for being late. It's not really my fault though you just have shit timing." He said with a scowl.
"Yeah yeah, I'm the one with shit timing." Wilbur rolled his eyes as he spoke and Tommy just stuck his tongue out in retaliation. There was no way he wasn't lying about his age.
"I actually have to talk to you about something important." Wilbur picked up the papers on the desk.
"Shit did I get fired already?"
"What? No! But it looks like all of your paperwork is forged so I wanted to update this with your legal name so that it doesn't look so suspicious."
There was a pause, Tommy looked at Wilbur with a wide-eyed expression.
"Theseus Thomson is my legal name. What the fuck are you on about?"
"Even the Wife Haver bit??" Wilbur said in disbelief.
"Fuck no. I don't have a middle name, so I put it there because I wanted to."
Tommy placed the cards and the paper on the table. His driver's license had Theseus Thomson on it, as did his birth certificate and social security card. Wilbur inspected them further, quickly noticing that these too, were forged. Wilbur frowned.
"Tommy, if you're going to show me forged shit at least do it well."
Tommy paled. He looked genuinely shocked; at what, Wilbur didn't know. He was responsible for this, was he surprised that he got caught?
Without warning, Tommy got up and began to leave, taking his papers with him.
"Tommy, wait!"
"I have to- I have to go."
And before Wilbur could fit another word in, he was gone. Wilbur sat with his head in his hands, surveying his options. He didn't even know why he was putting so much effort into protecting the kid, for all Wilbur knew, Techno could be right. The forgery was already illegal and it made Tommy look like a suspect.

Techno watched as the vigilante kid ran out of Wilbur's office, looking white as a ghost. He looked disoriented, a bit panicky.
It made Techno feel oddly guilty. Stupid feelings making his life harder, he didn't even do anything and he felt bad for the kid who was probably plotting to kill his whole family. He sighed and rushed to catch up with him, it was fairly easy to run through the area now that he didn't have to dodge filth. He was gaining on him, now close enough to reach his arm out and grab at him, making an attempt to get him to slow the fuck down.
Thankfully it worked, Techno grabbed the kid's arm and he whipped around to face Techno. He looked angry although the fear was evident in his eyes. Techno wondered what kind of fucked up thing Wilbur had to have said for him to react so badly.
"The fuck do you want?! Let go of me!" Tommy's eyes darted around the room like some kind of cornered animal.
"Breathe, I mean you might actually just die if you keep holding your breath." Tommy attempted to get some oxygen in his lungs, although evidently, that wasn't working too well. Techno dragged Tommy to the ground, maybe he just needed to sit down?
Once Tommy was sitting down, Techno released his arm.
Am dying
Tommy knew sign language. Obviously not well but that was... Interesting. Techno shook that out of his head, he could add this to his list later, there were more pressing matters at hand.
Techno put Tommy's hand on his chest and exaggerated his breathing. He vaguely remembered Wilbur doing that when he was little. When the voices became too much.
"Try to uhh- breathe I guess? Stop dyin' it would be bad for my brand."
Tommy snorted, that was probably good right? Dare he say, progress?
Tommy regained his breath, sitting in silence with Techno for a moment. It wasn't comfortable but it wasn't quite awkward either. Techno was just glad that the kid he was growing attached to oh fuck ratty vigilante kid didn't die on him. That would've been, as the kids say, not poggers.
Tommy stood up again and looked down at Techno.
"If you tell anyone about that you're fuckin' dead."
And with that, he was gone.
