Getting to the bakery proved to be much more difficult than Tommy had originally assumed. He had to stop constantly because every time he moved unbearable pain shot through him. He almost wanted to stop, maybe if he went back Dream would congratulate him and fix his arm. But he knew that was unlikely. In fact, he was almost sure Dream would break his legs or something so he couldn't run.
It took him two days to get to the bakery. The farther you went down the city, the less public transportation there was. Not enough funding. So the closer he got the more tiring the journey was. But now the bakery was in sight, just down the street. He could finally get something to eat, and get this goddamn arm fixed.
The bakery had just closed an hour ago, but the lights were still on. Tommy used his good arm to bang on the doors, trying to muster as much strength as possible to make the loudest noise. He sighed in relief as a pink-haired woman peered through the door. Niki .
She was kind, Tommy knew that because of Ranboo. They'd had a run-in when Ranboo was after a robber. She didn't apprehend him, she didn't even try. Instead, she chased down the robber and helped Ranboo catch him, even taking him to authorities because Ranboo couldn't. Niki didn't do much street work anymore, the violence fueled unhealthy tendencies. So she stepped away and started a bakery with her wife.
She opened the door and stepped to the side to allow Tommy to come in. Niki guided him to sit in one of the booths with her.
"What happened?" She asked, her voice quiet.
Tommy had already thought of what he would say, "I got into a fight. I lost."
Niki frowned at that. "And what brought you here? Don't you live with Tubbo and Ranboo?" she paused. "I can walk you there. They don't live far."
"No! Uh- no. I'd rather you not."
"Okay."
They sat in silence for a moment. The only sounds in the building were Niki sipping her tea and someone (probably Puffy) cleaning up in the back.
"Do you know how to fix this?" Tommy motioned at his arm that was bent in a way that no arm should be bent. "It fucking hurts."
"Can I see it?" Tommy nodded and scooted down the booth until he was sitting next to Niki. She exhaled sharply when she saw it.
"There are... a lot of other injuries here." She was right, there were bruises all over that arm from when Dream beat the shit out of him.
"...Yeah," Tommy said quietly. He really did not want to be asked for details. The memory of Dream beating him was still at the forefront of his mind. Especially when Dream broke his arm. The way he laughed as Tommy cried out in pain, it made him feel a lot of things. Mainly angry, but also very afraid. If Dream came looking, the first place he'd look would be Tubbo and Ranboo's apartment. If Dream had no reservations when it came to breaking Tommy's bones, he couldn't imagine the hell he would be willing to put Tubbo and Ranboo under.
Tommy shuddered at the thought of that. Returning to an apartment doused in his friend's blood, all because he couldn't tough it out for a few more days. He was snapped out of his thoughts by Niki coming back with keys in her hand. Tommy didn't even notice her leave.
