Damon pov

I watched Bella mesmerized. She was looking very beautiful in her sleep. My peaceful appreciation of her was disrupted when Bella started whimpering in her sleep. I immediately went towards her touching her to calm her down. I entered her mind and saw the entire scene when her so called boyfriend betrayed her and left her in the forest. I was shocked to know that she knew about the supernatural and had dated a cold one. God sparkling idiots. If only I got my hands in him for hurting my mate. .. My rant was cut mid way as Bella started screaming and writhing as if in pain, "please Edward please " she kept repeating. It hurt a lot to see her like this so I immediately took her in my arms and rocked her kissing her head and purring to calm her down. She soon quieted down before she slowly opened her eyes. I saw Elena enter followed by Jeremy but I shook my head and they left.

Bella opened her eyes and stared at me.

Bella pov

I opened my eyes to find myself in the arms if none other than Damon Salvatore. He was the one to calm me. I stared at him taking him in in such close proximity. I finally then snapped our of it and blushed to my roots. I tried moving away though I didn't want to but he just tightened his arms around me and kissed my forehead. He sniffed my hair and sighed in contentment -something Edward could never do. I felt a smile come up to my face as I melted in his embrace. He moved us so that I was sitting with my back pressed against his chest and his arms around me securely. He laid his head on my shoulder and exhaled. I was confused by his behaviour and my response to his body. I had never reacted to Edward in this matter and I thought him to be my mate - but I guess that was not true

I turned towards him and cupped his face hesitantly. "Damon what's going on?"

He sighed and leaned into my hand causing me to smile. He began speaking,"I know u know about the existence of the supernatural and have come in contact with the cold ones. I want to tell u about the other kind of vampires ie my kind" I froze in shock and looked at him, "u r a vvvampire?" I stuttered in fear. "yes but pls baby do not fear I will never hurt u ever love " I nodded and sighed prodding him to continue.

He told me everything about his past, Katherine, Elena, dopplegangers,  witches, originals, etc. I sat taking it all in.

"u know u took all of that pretty well. I was expecting u to run away screaming"

I smiled at him and said,"I m used to being in contact with the supernatural" he chuckled nodding

We spent the next hours of the night getting to know about each other's lives. It was nearly three when I asked him the question that was nagging me all along, "damon why do I have these feelings of love and lust and other such feelings towards u? "

He sighed and looked at me in the eye a d said something that I knew would change my life forever,

"cause u r my mate"
