What If? {Merlin}

Goblin's Gold

Arthur POV

"Arthurrrr!" two voices sung out, Arthur sighed, almost in misery and turned to Morgana and Kylynn. "Yes?"

"You may be getting a small goblin-like intruder in your chambers that Merlin is trying to get," Morgana said.

"What is it?" I asked, almost dreading the answer.

"A goblin," they both said.

My eyes widened, "Well we have to get rid of it," I was about to head back to my chambers, but the girls stopped me, "It's going to possess Gaius," Kylynn revealed. I paused, then turned back to them, "Okay, but we need to step in when it gets too far," I said and the girls nodded with big smiles and I went back to my chambers seeing Merlin looking under my bed in my now messy room.

"Merlin," I started and he jumped looking at me, "I really hope, for your sake, you have a good explanation for this," I said.

He thought of his excuse, "I...do have a good explanation. I'm spring cleaning," okay, apparently he is deciding not to tell me about the goblin, but use a bad excuse.

"It isn't spring, and it certainly isn't clean," I told him.

"That's because I've only just started. Yeah, you wait until I've finished. You'll be able to eat your dinner off the floor. Not that you want to," Merlin said. A noise then sounded outside, "What was that?" I asked.

"Why don't I go and see, and you make yourself comfortable," Merlin told me and rushed out. I could hear the goblin trying to get into Morgana and Kylynn's rooms. I heard its scream knowing it just got burnt from the charms Kylynn put on their doors, it burns any harmful magical being that tries to get in. But, then I get called Leon about my father. He was bald, he had no hair on his head, I walked back out and looked at the girls and Leon, "For the record, we did not see this coming," Morgana said. Leon looked confused so we told him about the goblin, I then went to find Gaius under my father's orders, not seeing Morgana and Kylynn staring at my ears in amusement before handing Leon something and letting him know what they were amused about.

When I came back with Gaius and Merlin, I turned to them before opening the door, "I should warn you, if you value your lives, do not think about laughing," 'just do it where he can't hear you,' I told him, adding the last part silently. "Father?" I called, opening the door.

"I'm behind the screen," I heard, and just knew he was pouting. And yeah, I went around the screen, my bald father, the bald Uther Pendragon, was sitting there, hidden by his changing screen, slouched over, with his arms crossed, pouting. After Gaius lying through his teeth and claiming he will look into Uther's baldness, him and Merlin left in a hurry to go catch the goblin. I had gone to bed and it wasn't long before Merlin came in. I knew it was Merlin because eh was stumbling towards my money chest, no doubt to find gold for the goblin, also because no body other than Merlin is stupid enough to make sure the room they are sneaking in actually has a sleeping occupant, and not one that was drifting off to sleep, an actual sleeping occupant. He knocked over the dishes that he left on the table, and yeah it would have woken me up, but I was already awake and knew it was him, and it might possess Gaius.

The next day Merlin was a mess and came up to us, "Has the goblin possessed Gaius yet?" I asked. He looked surprised, "I should have known," he said. We all nodded in response, "Okay just to check, since it seems Merlin thinks he's different, let's try Morgana when he comes back," I decided. Morgana went to check after Merlin had said he was back, "Yeah that's the goblin. He pretty much sassed me off, told me I'm evil and all that, and gave me an incorrect potion, Gaius would not have done any of that other than maybe the evil thing, but he wouldn't be so straightforward about it," Morgana said. Apparently Goblin Gaius was also going around making the people think that they were sick and having to pay a lot just for a fake potion. Gwen had been one of those people but she ignored it and put on an attitude saying she really didn't care if she got sick or not. We told her before about the goblin possessing Gaius and that he would hand out "remedies" that would cause something not nice to happen.
