I walk in my apartment, as I decided to check on Rain while Isabella was sleeping. As soon as I walk in, rain runs to the door, barking and jumping around me, his tailing wagging.
"You missed me?"I say, bending down to pet him. He rolls on his back, asking for belly rubs. I comply, rubbing his little belly.
Rain is 10 month old Rottweiler. I've had him since he was little.
"We found, Bella. She's gonna come live with us soon. She's gonna stay. At least for while. Till she's better." I say.
Rain just looks at me, not a thought behind those eyes.
"I feel like I should'nt have left her alone. Like what if she wakes up from a nightmare. Or what if she panics or something?" I say, running a frustrated hand through my hair.
Why the fuck am I talking to a dog?
"Honestly, I don't know if I'd make in any better, considering she's scared of me too. And- what the Fuck am I talking about? Let me hurry up and go back." I say, picking up my keys and going back out.
I speed the whole way there, a thousand thoughts running through my head.
What if she has a nightmare?
What if she gets hungry?
What if she panics?
What if-
I park in the driveway of the complex, running towards the house. But as I open the main door, I hear something that makes my heart drop. A heart wrenching scream. More importantly, Isabella's scream.
My breath quickens, my mind filling with rage and concern. Rage at whoever dared to touch her. And concern for her safety and well-being.
I run upstairs to where the sound was coming from. But the sight I see makes my blood boil. Isabella on the floor, crying and scream as Antonio-one of my men- drags her towards her room.
Figlio di puttana. (Son of a bitch)
In one quick movement, I push him off of her. Antonio stumbles back, falling to the floor. But as I go to pull out my gun, I feel someone throwing themselves onto me.
I look down in shock seeing Isabella's terrified little body latching onto me as she cries. Her lips trembling, her arms wrapped around my neck, her legs wrapped around my torso.
"I'll deal with you later." I say, putting my hand around Isabella's waist, holding her up and carrying her to my room. She flinches at the touch, but doesn't try to get off. Instead she pushes her head in the crook of my neck, trying to hide from everyone.
I shut the door, walking to the bed. I look to the bed and it's untouched, the same way I left it.
What happened here?
