"Have you heard about London?" One girl whispered to another loudly.
"I can't believe she would do something like that." Another girl said loudly.
"She probably doesn't know right from wrong. I mean, have you seen her family?" A boy said to his group of friends.
They all stared at me as I walked down the hall, talking as if I couldn't hear. As if I was a martian from another planet who couldn't understand the hurtful things they said about me.
"I heard that her mother left her when she was born, and then her father left her to chase after the mother." Someone said.
"I've been told that she secretly lives with her older sister."
"I heard that her older sister was hot."
I rolled my eyes and walked down the rest of the hallway to my locker.
I opened up my locker that was now vandalized with dirt that were suppose to look like scorch marks and writing that seemed impossible to comprehend.
"Hey," somebody said coming up to me.
I rolled my eyes.
"so why'd you do it?" They asked.
"Do what?"
"Try lighting the school on fire."
"What?"
"Well, you did light a bunch of tests and homework on fire in the girls bathroom, right?"
"No."
"Oh. Well everybody's saying it was you and that you were suspended for it."
"Well was my name on the paper?"
"No. It was a whole bunch of different people's papers."
"Then why would you be stupid enough to believe that it was me."
"People saw you with a lighter.""I only had it because I didn't want my sister to waste away her day smoking," I wanted to say, but didn't. I kept my mouth quiet.
"Why were you suspended then?" She asked after some time. We were now walking to my homeroom.
"Because I was caught smoking an e-sig on school grounds." I say, which is true. I knew I would get suspended for doing so because so many kids previously had gotten suspended and I needed an excuse to stay home and force my sister to go out and get a job.
"Oh." She said disappointed, then left.
Everybody's always disappointed with the truth, never excited.
People are only excited about wild, crazy, twisted, lies.
