They stood there together in wind, their bodies a barricade against anything cold interrupting their warmth.

He broke apart from her.

"It's time." He said.
"I know." She whispered.

"I don't have to do this," he said.

"Yes you do." She replied. She gulped back the words she wished she could say. "You have to go because you'll hate me forever if I don't let you."

"I love you," he said, "and I'll love you forever." And with one last look, he turned away and ran.

The tears she had tried to force down could no longer wait, they flooded her eyes and ran down her face.

"This isn't what you want," she had wanted to say. "you're not even out of high school, you'll regret it."

But she never did, because losing him while they both loved each other was better then losing him while she loved him only.

She had never known that tears could actually burn.
