"The trio has accepted the new deals." I tell Cade as I move the papers towards him.

His eyes widen in shock. "I have no idea how you are able to do all this, but this is great." He admits.

I take a sip of my coffee and nod. I know it's great. There is a lot riding on this. Shit. Mia is going to be pissed. The one thing she told me not to do, I did. I changed her work. Granted, I didn't change much, I actually made it easier for her to continue the assignment. I should probably call her and tell her what I did, but then I would be doing two things she told me not to do. The second being 'losing her number'.

I won't. There is something that interests me about her. It's almost like we have the same work ethic, and I could use that for projects I don't have time to do. The only downside to that is her finding out that I own the company.

From the little I know about her, she would freak. She carries a massive attitude when she talks to me. Is it fucked up if I kind of enjoy pushing her buttons? Nah.

But if I tell her who I am, she will feel like shit for treating me like shit. And then she would worry because she assumes I would fire her.

I won't lie, I have definitely messed with the idea, but that was before I saw her work.

"I'll just be a moment." I tell Cade as I walk towards my living room.

Sorry in advance, Amina.

I dial her number and it rings to the point where I feel like it will go to voicemail, but it doesn't.

"Ja?"

"What?" I question.

"Who is this?" Her voice is rough, but still high. It's ten in the morning and she is just now waking up. She will be waking up upset, but better late than never.

"Jace," I say. "Listen, don't freak out, but-"

"Okay, well listen here, Jace. When someone calls you and tells you not to freak out, what do you think their first instinct is to do?" she lets out a laugh. "Oh, and that's not a rhetorical question by the way."

"Point proven," I go on. "I just wanted to inform you that the work has been completed."

The line goes blank. Did she really hang up on me? I check my phone that is at the home screen. She fucking hung up on me.

Without a second thought, I call her back.

"Who is this?" She asks again. Is she kidding me right now?

"I'm done playing games, Mia"

"I'm sorry. I think you have the wrong number. My name is Amina."

I can't help but laugh at her response. She has a tongue made of fire.

She hangs up the phone, again.

I shake my head trying to get her out of my mind.

Cade gets out of his seat and gathers all of his files. "Where you headed?" I ask.

"To go find a date."

"A date?"

"The Beekman. Next Friday, remember?" he scuffs. "Jason told Victoria that we have dates so she can't plus one with either of us."

I totally forgot about that. I sigh as I throw myself on the couch.

"Don't worry man. I can find you one too." He says as he heads towards the door. "Won't be hard, see you later."

Victoria is always trying to find a way into these things. She will do anything to gain the upper hand on us. I can't think of a single reason as to why my father thought marrying her was a good idea. She is the scum of the earth.
