Chapter 10; I love you

"DREAM!" Karl sobbed, as he just barely grabbed Dream's right hand. Dream quickly grabbed onto the ledge with his left hand, heart beating rapidly from shock. Karl hurriedly helped Dream back onto the ledge, fresh tears on his cheeks. 

"You scared me moron." Karl said, hitting dream. 

Dream made a mocked face, and laughed. "And it's my fault?" 

Karl pointed his middle finger at the taller. Karl and Dream then faced Technoblade swords drawn. Technoblade was shell shocked, standing there frozen. 

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to push you! I was mad! Okay?" Techno pleaded desperately.

"SORRY?!" Karl yelled, approaching the pig man. "That's all you got?! Sorry?!" 

"I'm sorry! I really am!" Technoblade rambled, fearing his life. 

Karl glared at him, and without hesitation, gave Technoblade a hard shove. He stumbled back, already being close to the edge in the first place. Technoblade fell, and died instantly as he hit the ground. 

"Fuck you." Karl muttered. 

The brunette heard a laugh behind him and spun around to face Dream. "Whatt?" He whined, completely losing his earlier anger as he met his lovers eyes. 

Dream smiled, "Nothing, love, nothing." He approached the younger and held him. Hands rested gently on his hips. Karl smiled contently and leaned into his lover. 

"I need a break." Karl murmured, closing his eyes, listening to Dream's steady heartbeat. 

Dream moved one of his hands from Karl's hip up to his fluffy hair. He ran his fingers through it as he spoke, "Me too, But we still have stuff to do." 

Karl mocked a frown, intending to say something to get more affection from Dream, but got cut off. A sharp object got thrusted into his back, making him cry out. Clothes going slightly damp from blood being drawn. Dream got pulled away from Karl, struggling madly. The both got pulled into a tight hold, swords to their necks. 

Karl frantically looked around to see who their attackers were, to be met with the eyes of quackity and sapnap. Quackity holding Karl, Sapnap holding Dream. 

"You. You did this." Quackity stated, anger tied in with his voice. 

Karl somehow felt confidence to say something through his fear, "We did what had to be done. You guys stopped listening, so we stopped being nice." 

Dream amired Karl in those moments, watching his bravery for the second time today. He smiled slightly, catching Karl's eyes. Karl gave a weak smile back. 

"You two are going to pay for what you did." Sapnap said harshly. 

Dream laughed, "Oh cmon now, you wouldn't kill your lover and bestfriend. You're too good for your own good." 

"Yes I fucking would." Quackity spat. 

Karl squirmed in his grasp, "Do it then." He demanded.

There was a long pause, the two watched Sapnap and Quackity share a look. A watched worriedly as they both grinned slightly. 

"Karl, sweetheart." Quackity started, Karl cut him off. "I'm not your sweetheart." He said anger lashed into his voice. 

Quackity laughed slightly, "Karl, how about you pick. Either Dream dies, or you die." 

Karl and Dream shared a shocked look, then Karl's face set. Karl's eyes met with the ground.

"No! Karl don't!" Dream yelled desperately. Tears started to form in his eyes as he desperately tried to break free from Sapnap's grip. 

"You know the answer, Kill me." Karl said softly. His voice sounded broken and empty. He didn't want to leave, not now. Not when it just got good. Not when everything was perfect. He choked out a sob, and his tears fell onto the dirt below, staining it dark. 

"KARL NO!" Dream cried out, tears coming faster. He couldn't do this. Not without Karl. Karl made everything better. He made life worth living. What would he do without him?! He needed that sweet smile, that fluffy brown hair, he needed to see him curled up into his body, feel his gentle touch that always came with warmth and comfort. He struggled desperately, sobbing, "KARL NO! PLEASE NO! I LOVE YOU!" He sobbed out.

Karl felt the blade dig into his neck, He was on his last life. This was it. He looked up, meeting eyes with Dream. A single tear fell down his cheek. They locked eyes. "I love you Dreamy." He said softly.

Quackity grinned, and sliced his neck in a clear cut. Blood oozed out of his neck, and he fell to the ground. His eyelids shut, and his body went loose. 

"KARL!" Dream screamed, sobbing. Sapnap let go, and Dream ran to Karl. Falling to his knees next to him. He picked Karl up and put him in his lap. Dream held him sobbing. "Please.. please Karl, come back-" He let out a choked sobbed. "PLEASE COME BACK, I CAN'T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!" 

Sapnap laughed,  Quackity laughed. And the two lovers teleported away. Leaving Dream and Karl. 

Dream rocked Karl back and forth, sobbing. Tears falling onto his lover. "P-please, s-stop it, stop pretending! You're not dead! You're not!" Dream desperately lied to himself. He didn't want to believe, he didn't want to believe this was how it ended. 

"I love you Karl." Dream said softly, matching Karl's tone of the last time he spoke. "I love you more than anything, more than I love myself." He hugged Karl tighter, and sat there for who knows how long, crying as he rocked Karl back and forth.
