George's POV

I walked to my English class with Quackity as I held the book. I hoped to work on the assignment today and sat down next to Quackity in front of Clay and Sapnap.

'Hi, George!' Clay greeted me with a big smile.

I turned around. 'Hi- what... did you get beaten up by someone?'

Sapnap's face lifted up too and he looked at Clay's face.

'No, don't worry,' Clay obviously lied. 'I walked against a door, I'm smart, am I right?'

Sapnap's eyes got a bit bigger as he saw the bruises on Clay's cheek. 'What the hell? Please don't tell me it was because of that drinking shit yesterday?'

Clay didn't answer him and smiled at me. 'If we are going to work on the assignment again, maybe we can ask to sit in the library or somewhere quiet to read again?'

'Yes, sure,' I answered with a smile, getting an annoyed look from Sapnap. Quackity noticed and rolled his eyes.

'Can you be a bit less moody?' he asked Sapnap. 'Dude, this is going to be so much fun to work with you. Listen up, buddy. If you don't like George, you don't like me either. You better stop acting like an absolute fool and do something useful in your life.'

'I didn't even do anything,' Sapnap defended.

'That annoyed look said enough, dumbass. Also, post another negative comment under George's video and I'm not done with you,' Quackity yelled out.

'I can't help that that guy is absolutely shit at singing.'

'Shut up,' Clay added in. 'He's not shit at singing, you're just jealous because YOU are shit at singing.'

'Sticking up for him now? Why don't you just immediately make out with him, dude?' Sapnap groaned, rolling his eyes.

Clay rolled his eyes and sighed softly.

'Listen up here,' Quackity started. 'It's really easy. We have an assignment together and if you act like an asshole, I'll read the book alone and ask Clay and George for help. Then I'll ditch you just like you ditched Clay and make sure you'll get the lowest grade out of everyone.'

'Three against one, great,' Sapnap scoffed.

'Dude, you literally started acting annoyed around George for no reason at all. What has he ever done to you?' Quackity shouted in a questioning tone of voice.

'I just don't like him. He's weird and annoys us with his videos.'

'Then don't watch his videos, dumbass,' Clay yelled with an another deep sigh after that.

Sapnap didn't answer and looked down at his book. 'Do you want to look for a book?' he mumbled. 'Don't think I'm going to read it to you like those gay idiots do.'

'What? Why "gay idiots"? Who said they are gay and why would they be idiots if they are gay?' Quackity asked.

'Never mind,' Sapnap sighed. 'Let's go to the library.'

They stood up and I was left with Clay. I smiled at him and he cleared his throat with a red face. 'Uh- let's go there too? Or somewhere where it's quiet at least.'

I nodded and we stood up to walk to the library and see if there was anywhere we could sit down.

We ended up sitting down on the floor in the corner of the library so no one would hear us read and I grabbed the book again, opening it to begin where we last ended.

I continued reading as Quackity and Sapnap came up to us. 'We have a book. We are first going to do the personal questions and then we'll come back to read here too.'

'I'm not reading it to you,' Sapnap groaned.

'I wasn't planning on that either, dumbass,' Quackity answered. 'This is going to be a rollercoaster of emotions.'

They walked off and Clay giggled shortly. 'I'm so glad I'm with you and not Sapnap. He's such an idiot.'

I smiled. 'Quackity is amazing.'

Clay nodded slowly. 'Do you uh- like Quackity?'

'Oh, no. We are just best friends,' I replied. His face heated up and he cleared his throat.

'Sorry for asking,' he mumbled as he looked at the book again. He seemed jealous when I told him Quackity was my best friend. Would he remember the past? Would he still want to be my friend?

He cleared his throat again and looked at the book. I got the hint and started reading again as he suddenly scooted a bit closer to me. I smiled shyly since this reminded me of the old times together. We both loved cuddling and we always cuddled up together.

I started to move so it wouldn't be too obvious how nervous I was and tried to continue reading as Clay suddenly wrapped his arm around my shoulders.

Clay smiled and I looked up at him, looking into his eyes.

'I like your eyes,' Clay whispered as his hand went up to my face. He used to do that when I was insecure or sad.

'T-t-thank you,' I stuttered as I looked away again.

His hand went down to my chin and he made me look at him again with a smile on his face. I smiled back and saw he had red cheeks too now, I didn't look like a complete fool. I giggled nervously as his hand went up to my cheek. He knew, he knew he used to do this when I was insecure about my looks.

He smiled shortly and then pressed his forehead against mine, grabbing my hand with his free hand. I had no idea what to do anymore so I intertwined our fingers together while he rubbed his thumb over my cheek.

I remembered how he always pointed out each thing he found beautiful about me since he wanted to make me feel worthy. I remembered that I used to cry and that he wiped my tears away, telling me it was okay to cry. I didn't want this moment to end, but then...

The door of the library opened and we immediately separated. Clay cleared his throat and grabbed the book as he started to look where we stopped.

'Hey, how much did you read?' Quackity asked who came in and sat down next to me.

'Uh- five pages, uh- I think,' Clay stuttered.

'What the hell did you do all this time, dude?' Sapnap asked annoyedly.

'You didn't even start, asshole,' Clay responded. 'Don't complain if you haven't read a single word yet.'

I couldn't stop thinking about what just happened. I was quite happy, he remembered me, there was no other option. He always did this when we were younger, but I was also scared that his friends would ever find out we had been best friends.
