When I opened my eyes, I saw Marlene staring down at me. "You woke up already?"

"How long was I out?" I sat upright on the bed, rubbing my temples. My head was slightly throbbing.

"About 10 minutes?"

I took the glass of water she gave me and gulped it down. "So what happened?"

"A lot actually. When you were announced winner, Brooke stormed out of the arena with her minions. Then you were running to me and slipped like a clumsy idiot." She snorted.

I rolled my eyes. "I really made a great winner impression."

"Anyway after Jett and I brought you to the infirmary, and that jackass dared to show his face near us." Mar said angrily. "You teach him girl. He deserved better than a knee to the groin. If not for people around I would-"

"Wait, why are you angry with Alec?" I asked in confusion. Marlene gave me that 'are you for real?' look.

"Girl! Didn't he just beat you without mercy ten minutes ago?!"

"What?! No!" I started to explain what exactly happened in the fighting circle in my point of view. When I finished, I got to know that the spectators had an exact opposite one.

"OMG! he did that? But..." suddenly Mar's face clouded with horror.

"But what?"

"Jett..he..Alec..." It was the one of those rare moments when Mar was lost for words.

"He what?" Mar didn't answer again and I got the feeling that something was wrong. "ANSWER ME MAR!" I demanded.

"Jett went to find Alec. Believe me he was so angry-"

Before she could finish her sentence, I was on my feet, running out of the infirmary. No one was in the corridor outside, but instead there was a spot with blood sprayed across the dull wall. Gods, Alec might have broke Jett's nose or worse. Jett was foolish to start a fight with the best fighter in USA. Mar appeared next to me and gasped in shock.

"We need to check on Jett," she said and I nodded.

As we came near the boys' dorms, I stopped in my tracks. Marlene turned to look at me with a confused expression.

"I want to see Alec." I blurted out of the blue.

"He's probably fine. It's Jett we should be worrying about."

"I know but..." I struggled to make a sentence. This weird feeling inside me screamed to go for Alec. My heart ached to thank him or at least, see the boy who saved me from failing the test.

Mar who read my face, finally sighed and said. "Okay."

"ALEC!" I knocked on his door for the third time, but he didn't answer.

"ALEXANDER WATERS! OPEN THE FREAKING DOOR!"

Again no reply. I took four steps back and kicked the door. Before my foot connected the metal door, it flew open. It wasn't locked after all. I could have simply pushed it open.

"Shit, it wasn't locked?!" Alec muttered.

Alec was on the bed, lying on his back. Closing the door behind me, I walked to the boy as he straightened himself into sitting position. I gasped when seeing his face.

"Don't look at me like that!" he complained, looking away. His face looked exactly like what I imagined Jett's to be. His nose was broken and there was an ugly cut near his eye. The worst part was he haven't even bothered to clean the blood. There were few drops of blood on his shirt too.
