Taehyung's POV

After King Park left the palace, I was summoned to my father's room. I knew what he had to say, but I wasn't concerned. Honestly, I just wanted to spend some time with Jimin.

She seemed to be feeling down because Namjoon didn't join her father in the visit.

Taking a deep breath, I knocked and entered his room. Father was having a midnight snack, and on seeing me he invited me to join.

Rolling my eyes, I sat in front of him and said, "You didn't summon me for this, did you?"

"Just eat for now, Taehyung," he seriously replied and handed me a pair of chopsticks.

When he spoke to me with that tone, I became aware that night would be a long one. Sighing, I straightened my posture and started eating.

For the next ten minutes, nothing could be heard except for the munching of the food until my father cleared his throat and spoke up after placing the chopsticks on the table, "I know you hate me, and your reasons are acceptable that's why I am leaving you to do what you want. However, to humiliate me, the king, in front of Park that I can't neglect."

He glared at me, making me doubt myself for a second, but I managed to recollect my thoughts.

"Would sorry do the trick?" I forced a smile and slapped the table while standing up with my smile dwindling.

"Kim Taehyung! You're crossing your boundaries," he half-yelled and clenched his fists.

"Excuse me, your highness," I bowed at him and existed the room to see Kookie waiting for me.

Avoiding eye contact, I lowered my head and walked past him. I had nothing to say about what just happened.

"Jihae accepted my proposal!" Kookie uttered after walking for a while.

On hearing the news, I felt like my brain had stopped functioning. My feelings went numb. I was neither glad for him nor upset. I was just-

Empty.

Maybe part of me seriously rejects the idea of him getting married. Well, I couldn't deny that I was afraid of him leaving my side. However, those feelings were pure selfishness.

I need to act happy.

"That's great! I am dying now to see her." I looked at him with a faint smile as he shyly shifted his eyes away.

"I-I honestly told her that you were going to see her today, but I couldn't find the right time to tell you,"He stuttered at the beginning of his sentence which made me wonder how a man like him can actually fall for a woman.

The day I first met, he was without denial a brat, but as he spent time in the palace, he became strict and firm. Now look at him, stammering because of a woman.

A family of his own!

"If you're tired, it's fine. It can be postponed," he scratched the back of his neck.

My lips curved into a smile and tapped his shoulder, saying, "Where is she?"

His face brightened, and he said,"She is in my room."

And that's when he started to act weird.

He stepped in front of me, adding, "This way, my prince. Wait." He paused and looked at me saying, "Um, I don't think she is fully prepared now to see you, so can I just warn her first?"

"Okay, sure," I nodded in confusion as he bowed his head and went ahead.

Before I was about to walk, I found him returning to me, panting. "I just realized my room is in the servant's area. It would be better to meet her. Um, maybe in the garden or-"
