Chapter Nine: A Wedding Interrupted

Today was the day Renjun had been eagerly anticipating—his wedding day. Yet, instead of feeling excitement, he was consumed by an overwhelming sense of dread and anxiety. This was the most nervous he'd ever been in his life.

"Renjun, be still for me," the stylist instructed, her voice tinged with frustration. Renjun was anything but steady. His nerves were frayed, and the whirlwind of the past few weeks had left him feeling disoriented and overwhelmed.

The days had been a blur of photo shoots and incessant public scrutiny. The media's relentless questions about the upcoming marriage had added to his stress, making it difficult for him to keep up. The constant attention and rapid pace of events had taken a toll on him, and now he was feeling physically unwell.

"I'm sorry," Renjun said, his voice wavering. "I'm just not feeling my best today."

"Today is your wedding day," the stylist reminded him, trying to be encouraging. "Try to push through and don't forget to smile." She finished adjusting his hair, adding a final touch.

Renjun knew he had to pull himself together. The day was significant, with his father, his brother, and his children all present. He had no choice but to endure.

He looked at his reflection in the mirror—his newly blonde hair gleaming, and his white tuxedo and dress shoes looking impeccable. Yet, as he tried to focus on the positive, a wave of pain hit him like a freight train, leaving him unable to ignore it.

In a moment of desperation, Renjun fled to the nearest restroom, the sudden nausea overwhelming him. He stumbled inside, struggling to cope with the intense urge to vomit. It had come on so abruptly; he had been fine until the previous week, and now his body was betraying him.

The past week had been a series of unsettling experiences: bouts of nausea, erratic eating habits, and an overwhelming need to cling to Jeno and Jaemin. While they found his dependency endearing, their concern for his well-being was growing.

Renjun returned to the stylist, looking pale and drained. "I'm o—"

Before he could finish, he collapsed to the floor. The stylist rushed to his side, her worry palpable as she called for help.

Renjun's wedding had taken an unexpected turn. Instead of walking down the aisle, he found himself in a hospital bed, feeling a mix of disappointment and confusion.

Jaemin and Jeno sat beside Renjun's bed, their faces etched with concern. The doctor entered the room, ready to provide answers.

"Jaemin, Jeno," the doctor began, taking a seat next to the couple. "I need to talk to you about Renjun's condition."

The couple nodded, their eyes focused intently on the doctor.

"We ran some tests," the doctor continued. "Renjun has been under immense stress and overwork, which caused him to pass out. But that's not the only issue."

Jaemin and Jeno exchanged worried glances. "What else is wrong?" Jeno asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Renjun is expecting," the doctor revealed gently.

The words hung in the air, their significance sinking in slowly. Renjun was pregnant—a revelation that brought a mixture of shock and disbelief. The wedding, the plans, and the future had suddenly become much more complex.
