Chapter 23

                                    Ethan's POV
I ran as fast as I could.

Caleb:He's alive. Ian told me his heart is still beating.

I ran into Alex and her squad on my way out.

"Are you hurt?"

"No! This is all from Onyx!"

"What about Mitch?"

"Nyx killed him."

I ran to whoever was closest to me. That just happened to be Onyx's house. I started banging on the door. When Destiny finally answered I told her everything. I ran to my house. I told my parents what happened. I had to change since I had silver all over me. I also had to go into the basement to quarantine.

                            Onyx's POV
I woke up in a hospital with no one at my side. I looked around and saw I was in a room with a glass door. Nobody was around.

                   *Mindlink with Destiny*
"Baby? Please tell me you're awake!"

"Baby?"

"Thank the moon!"

"Why is no one here?"

"Honey you're in quarantine."

"I am? It was that bad?"

"Yeah."

"How's Ethan?"

"He's shaken up. He's in the basement in quarantine."

"When can I see you?"

"Whenever they let you."

"Did they say for how long?"

"No. The silver spread to your entire body. You really did it? You killed him. How do you feel?"

"Like I did a good thing. I don't regret it. I meant to do it. Can't you just come in a hazmat suit?"

*Destiny giggles*

"Oh trust me. I tried. I really did. They said that even if I could do that they still wouldn't have let me because I'm pregnant."

"Oh. Right. I miss you."

"I miss you too. I'll talk to you in the morning. Get some rest. You need it. I love you."

"I love you too."

So I'm going to be spending my time in here alone.

Great.

I just want my family...

I just want my mate.

Ian: At least you can still mindlink everyone.

"Yeah but that's not the same. I just want to hold Destiny. I want to physically see her."

I put my hand on my chest and felt bandages. I'm sore. I looked at my hand. I saw that I no longer had blood on it.

They must've cleaned all my blood off.

"Hey Ian? Do you think I'm gonna be in trouble for this?"

Ian: No. Do you seriously need me to explain it to you?

"No."

I was in quarantine for about a month. My parents picked me up and brought me to their house. I went to check on EJ . I walked inside my house and noticed it was quiet.

"Des? I'm home!"

I walked to our room and saw she was sleeping. I moved hair out of her face then kissed her forehead.

"Destiny? Love?"

I'm actually going to let her sleep for a bit.

I should shower.

I grabbed clothes then went into the bathroom. I took off my clothes and turned on the water. I let it heat it up for a few seconds then got in. When I was done I wiped the steam off of the mirror and just stared at my chest. Five fresh scars are now on my body. I got dressed then went to my bed. I laid down and slide an arm underneath her head.

Crap!

I think I just woke her up.

"Onyx!"

She wrapped her arms around my neck.

"Hi love."

"I missed you!"

"I missed you too."

"When did you get back?"

"Not long ago."

"Do you feel any better?"

"Eh. I saw Ethan. He seems okay."

"He started therapy."

"Good. He probably needs it more than me. How are you three?"

"We're okay. This house has been so lonely. This bed has felt so empty."

"I was in an lonely hospital room. You were in a lonely house. We've all had a shitty month."

"You ain't kidding."

She started crying in my ear.

"You gotta stop scaring me like this! You told me I wouldn't have to worry about losing you since you're not going to be alpha. Yet here I am not knowing if this is the last time I'll see you."

"Y-you worry about that?"

"Of course I do! You're related to the alpha! Anyone could come for you! Or even me! Or the pups! The worse part would've been I wouldn't have been able to say "goodbye" to you! That'd kill me! You're not taking care of yourself! You always put people before you! Please! Put yourself first sometimes!"

"You're not telling me everything are you?"

"We're both scared of rejection. You're scared I'll reject you. And I'm scared you'll reject me! I'd be lost without you!"

"I guess I never thought about any of this. I'm sorry."

"It's okay! I'm not mad! I just don't want to lose the best thing that's ever happened to me!"

"Me either."
