"Mommy! Guess what? I got a 100% on my maths exam!" a child said proudly.

"Wow, that's great! So you want a reward, right?" the woman smiled at her child.

"Yeah..." the child blushed with embarrassment.

"Nothing to be embarrassed about, you deserve a reward after working so hard." the woman went to get a surprise that she had set up. The excited child trailed after her.

The mother brought out a pack of sweets that she had bought for him. "Wow! Thank you Mommy!" the child exclaimed, reaching out to take the pack of sweets.

"Mhm-mhm, show me your exam first," teased the mother, jerking her hand, along with the sweets, out of arms reach. The child shoved the exam paper into the mother's hand and grabbed the bag of sweets while the mother was reading the paper.

"Honey, you really shouldn't lie." the mother looked disappointed. She waved the paper in front of him. On it, with red ink, said in big handwriting, 0%, please tell your mom to see me tomorrow.

The child lowered their head, and cursed himself for forgetting that he didn't actually get a 100. Their mother looked at them, and they took a sudden interest in his trainers.

"I'm sorry honey, but since you lied, I'm going to have to ground you for a year." said the mother sternly.

"WHAT?" the child screamed. They didn't want to be grounded.

"That's what we agreed on, remember? Last time you did this, which was yesterday for the english test, I told you that if you did it again you would be grounded for one year. And you nodded."

The child was now regretting not listening to their mother last night.

At night, the child couldn't sleep, so they decided to go downstairs and drink some water. He saw his parents in the living room, so he flattened himself against the wall, and listened.

"What do we do? They are coming soon, and our child is failing everything! What are we going to tell them?" the mother cried, burying her face in her hands.

"It's ok, we'll just tell them that the child is away. Them killing us is better than them killing the child." the father says to her, putting his arm around her.

The mother sighed. She didn't want to die. But if her child's life was in danger...

Do it she will.

Somewhere else...

A child sighed. They had run out of resources to survive. They had to live. For their brother. The child checked their pretty much destroyed backpack. The things that we once inside it were long gone. They might have dropped out, they might have been destroyed. But that was not their problem anymore.

They huddled up in their small home cave that they tried to make as a home. They had only their helmet. But it was their lifeline. A voidwalker cannot breathe the air of the overworld, or the nether. They had no way to return home. The end portal does not lead to the original end. It leads to the end in that world. They didn't know how they got here. They were doomed.

Somewhere else...

A child in rags walked the street, being avoided by all sane people. They were tired. They were hungry. When can they leave?

Somewhere else...

"Don't do this! Please!" pleaded a boy, clutching his mother's hand.

"It's no use. They are monsters that do not know mercy." His mother told him.

"But...there has to be some way!" the boy cried.

"Now, your choice. Give me the boy, or I kill you right in front of his eyes." they threatened.

Her decision was made. She grabbed the backpack with all things needed for survival and tossed it to her child, who caught it. She then muttered a spell and teleported him somewhere far away, where they couldn't get to him.

They were furious. They locked her up, and tortured her until she died.

Somewhere else...

"Get out! You are a monster!" they bellowed, slamming the door in his face.

"Wait!" he sobbed, banging on the door. There was no 'sorry I got emotional' when they opened the door again. They knocked him out.

When he woke up, he was in the middle of the ocean.

They were his comrades.

Why would they do this to him?

Does it bring them joy?

He sank down, down, down.

He didn't see the respawn button.

But he wasn't permadead.
