My head was being slapped, and I woke to see it was my mother. There weren't hard slaps, but rather playful and sloppy.
"Wake up!" Her voice bellowed.
I fluttered my eyes open and tried to move around, but my hands would not budge. They were tied.
I looked around and saw my mother in front of me, we were in a secluded area made only of dirt. It was identical to Desdemona's old hiding post, in fact, it was her old hiding post. I was sitting in a chair with my hands tied behind me.
"I shouldn't have trusted you," I spat.
"No, but you did," she snapped her fingers.
"What are you going to do to me?"
"It is all in due time-"
"What did you do to William?" The question burst eagerly from my mouth and I had not realized what I had said.
"Killed him, they're all dead. The town doesn't exist anymore, they served whatever purposes they had. You could ask anyone, and they'll tell you the town has never existed."
"You're sick! You wiped out a town for your own pleasures and don't even show remorse for doing any of it!"
"Oh, stop it and sit still! I need to get this bloody spell off you!"
What spell?
Oh, oh! She was going to let me unlock my true power, but there had to be a trick. She would not just let me walk back to them with my true magic. I don't know what exactly she planned on doing, but whatever Madame Linette or Alagwar told me must have been useful.
"Stop squirming or I'll purposely make it much more painful than it has to be!" She was whining.
Desdemona had a concentrated expression on her face, and I thought while she was in this deep state I could try the mind spell. But before I even tried, she broke out saying "you can't do that on me for I have already done it on you."
My heart sank.
"Don't do anything else, I need pure concentration..."
"Why did you have to use William as an outlet to disgrace me?" I know you needed me, b-"
"It was more efficient, now stop talking!" She barked at me.
I shivered as purple clouds of dust started fluttering out of me. I was out of breath once it had finished, but then the same clouds of dust came out of my head in the colour of green. Once that had finished, my head felt to be empty and hollow.
"Just give it a second, and once it's worked I need you to focus..." Desdemona trailed off.
I let out a sigh and my head dropped itself downwards. My eyes kept blinking and it did not take long for the feeling of my eyelashes to keep meeting to get annoying.
Once my state was stable enough, Desdemona came back to me once again., having to crouch because of how small the hole was. She untied me but held my 2 hands tightly, piercing the skin where her nails were placed. Desdemona helped me out and stopped when we were deep enough into the words. Her voice was silk-like and slipped between both my ears. "You used to trust me, and I lied to you. You deserved it, you deserve nothing from me or anyone. I enjoy seeing you being so easily deceived. You're not a saviour, you're a fraud. Try to make yourself one of them, but you're just a copy of me. The second you give me up is the second they will all throw you into the pit with me. No one there truly cares for you."
"Stop, please," I groaned. Why was she doing this?
"Once you defeat me, the evil Lemonark, you will be next! They will hunt you and tear you limb from limb once they find you. Your purpose will be served and you will be scum to them. The new threat that needs to be eliminated! They'll see you as the monster once you give up, but the title fits you well. You are a monster. A creature that is just a part of me. After all, you have my blood..."
