twenty-two: guilty

Tony POV:

Its been hours since y/n's meeting. The guilt is haunting me, I feel terrible.  Hearing what she went through how those men touched her and beat her. I wanted to kill someone. I wish she knew then I know she would stop feeling like a burden. But at what cost? She would never talk to any of us again. She would never forgive me or f/n. I know f/n, pepper and Pietro are mad at me honestly I am too.

I have caused her already so much pain. She deserves someone better. So I will help her find that someone, and distance myself from her so I don't cause her anymore pain.

"Tony..." I hear Pepper behind me, I stop working and turn to face her.

"did you really know?" she asks tears in her eyes. I look away 

"yes I did..." I say she walks over to me and looks into my face

"did you try to go after her?" she asks. Tears start forming in my eyes

"no, I couldn't" I say making her scrunch her face up

"couldn't or wouldn't. Tony she trusted us, trusted YOU" she yells 

"couldn't"

"Tony did you hear what they did?, what they said to her?" I look down at my hands trying to stop myself from thinking about it.

"Tony she liked you I doubt she still does or still will when she finds out" Pepper says leaving my lab, leaving me to think

"I like her too" I whisper. My heart breaking when I think back to what she said happened to her.

"Jarvis don't let anyone in, tell them I am not to be disturbed" I grab the new thing I was working on her and start to tinker, focusing on what I am doing, trying to not think of what has happened.

"Sir do you want me to block y/n as well from entering" Jarvis asks knowing she would always find away in.

"Yes especially her"

y/n POV

I walk back in to the tower, heading straight for my room.

"y/n wait" I hear f/n run up to me I look over to her and force a smile

"Hey f/n"

"y/n I need to tell you something important"

"I know" I say she looks like she is about to break

"wha- how"

"come lets pack" I say linking our arms and head to the elevator fighting back the tears

 flashback a couple hours ago

"what do you mean?" 

Coulson looks away afraid of what he is about to say

"your dad told me not to say anything"  I know it must be serious as his loyalty to my dad is very serious to him

"what happened?"

"they knew where you were the whole time y/n" he finally says. The world around me seemed to stop. I just bite the insides of my cheek

"no... NO"

"why?" I ask more to myself then Coulson

"they wanted to wait so they knew for sure Rumlow was there" that made me mad

"He was there alright, he was there torturing and tormenting me. And you WAITED?" I yell not at Phil but at the situation

"whose idea was it?" Phil just looked down not wanting to answer
