Hey Guys!

Sorry I didn't make a Halloween one for this jlaire collection, but I'm hoping this one ends up being even better.

I've always wanted to do something with Jim meeting some of Claire's family in this kind of way for a while and I'm so excited to put this in here! This one was supposed to come out a week ago, but I wanted to get very creative with this one, which ended up making this a ten thousand word one-shot. Yes, you heard me, a TEN THOUSAND word one-shot. Over ten thousand actually. But it's filled with a lot of things I'm so excited for you to read about, and I hope you enjoy it as much I do.

Since this is actually posted on Veterans Day, I did sneak in a mention of some Veteran family members. At least the two holidays have something in common: they both honour people who came before them. Maybe not exactly for the same reason, but it was so close to Veterans Day when I finished this that I thought it'd be best to finish it that day.

(Also I tried to make this as accurate as I could with Claire's family, so there may be a bit of Spanish and I recommend you guys have a translator open when reading some of this :))

Jim's POV:

"You mind watching Gun Robot three this time?".

"Sure Jimbo, put it in the DVD player!".

I was over at Toby's house hanging out with him right now, after a long week of stress. The group decided a while back to rebuild Camelot, but add some Akiridion tech to enforce it a bit, and replace parts of the castle that couldn't be found. Krel's been great with doing that for us lately, but for Halloween last night, he took a night off. Everyone did actually. Some of us trick-or-treated, while me, Toby and Claire went out for a little bit, then spent most of the rest of the night watching scary movies. Darci ended up joining us at one point too, and we had a fun night out of it.

But another holiday, not even seventy-two hours later, was one that someone I know pretty well celebrates almost as much as others with Halloween.

Halfway through the movie me and Toby were watching, directly after school on a Friday, Toby shifted in his spot on the couch.

"So, any plans with Claire for the Day of the Dead coming up? It lands on a weekend this year".

"Actually" I said, struggling to spit the rest of my words out. Toby noticed and turned to face me. "There's actually something related to that I need to tell you about..."

Flashback

Interesting.

Just minutes ago, I received a text from Claire telling me: "hey, do you have a moment? I really need to ask you something. Can you come to my house right now?".

That' seemed a bit serious. Nonetheless, if she wants to talk to me I'll head over. I told her: "yeah sure, I'm on my way" right before leaving the door to my house and walking to hers.

It was a cloudy day, just before supper after school on a Thursday Halloween evening. It was just starting to get chilli outside, but the infants were just beginning to go outside to start their candy collecting. Toby later on was planning on having me and Claire head over when it got dark to watch some spooky movies. It should be a fun night.

But first, ask Claire what she wants to talk to me about.

After minutes of walking, I finally reach Claire's doorstep, walked up the steps and rung her door bell.
