Hi people.
Ps. Just wanted to be random don't judge.
---------"Hello, Tom long time no see," I said sitting down across from him.
"Oh is that really you Sam. How old are you now?" he responded, tugging at the handcuffs that bound him to the table.
"You haven't changed at all Tom, I like the hair" Okay, he's smart he knows what he is doing. So if I am to get in his head this is going to be a challenge; But not impossible.
"What do you want," he spat.
"I'm just trying to help you, Tom. You think you are safe with Jackson. You have no idea what you have gotten yourself into. Jackson is not the kind of person who rewards little puppy's. He the kind of owner who uses that loyal dog and once they become useless to him he puts them down, kind of what The Major was going to do," I tilt my head and pout my lip at him.
"What exactly do you expect me to do. Turn down the offer of taking down Reddington. Oh and his little bitch of a daughter. Are you so sure that I am the dog, Sam?" He laughed. Trying to get in my head. I could feel my handball into a fist but I don't think he saw. If he did I would have lost everything. He would have seen me slip
"You know name calling isn't going to get you anywhere," I counter. My voice low.
"Where is he? Is he right outside that door? Are you just here to see if I will talk, and when you find out that you can't change my mind is he going to beat the crap out of me? I know he would love that. Is that your plan?" The small apartment was old and rusted. No rooms just a table bed and a sink.
"No its just me. I'm not here to convince you of anything. You can do what you want. I'm just warning you of what could, and probably will happen. I know you, Jacob. I was you."
"You know nothing about me," he lunged forward but was kept in place due to the cuffs.
"You wear a mask every day of your life. At first, you hated it, pretending to be something you are not. But you got used to it, so much to the point where you couldn't live without that mask. You needed it, you craved that extra layer that separated you from everyone else in the world,"
I could see his features stiffen. Got ya. "Wheres your mask now Jacob, because all I see is a scared little boy running from his problems. You know for a fact that they won't keep you alive. You know the business, Jacob. You are never guaranteed your life, none of us are, you should have learned that when the Major put that gun to your
head." It didn't take him long to counter. He was getting in every hit he could before the final bell rings. This game of back and forth. There can only be one victor, and I'll be damned if it's him.
"Where is Liz? I at least thought she would come to pay me a visit. We were husband and wife after all.""There is nowhere to run. Nowhere to go. You are stuck in the hell that you put yourself in. No one's going to save you not even Liz," I stand from my seat and place the key for his cuffs in the middle of the table. "And that really sucks," I said as I walk out of the door. I walk down the numerous stares that lead to the street. Outside the brisk wind hits my face. I get out my phone and call up an old frenemy of mine. "Hey thanks for your help," I said slightly sarcastic. He did help me but he is still an asshole. "Go to hell Samantha," with that he hangs up. A smile spreads on my face. As I walk down the sidewalk watching all sorts of people walk in the opposite direction. That went well. I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. "Yeah," I answer.
"I hope everything went according to plan?" He asked. "As good as its going to get. I think I got to him. Anything new with the location of the organization?"
"Well, it has to be In a rural area underground with access to water and electricity. They might be on a generator and have there owned water filtration system. I have people looking for any place like that."
"Oh alright I'll see you soon," with that I hang up the phone.
I walk to this little cafe at the end of the block. It was small and stylish. When I walk inside I spot Liz sitting at a table sipping on a cup of coffee. "Hey, Sam. How did it go?" She put down her coffee and leaned forward in her chair.
"Hey, it went well," I assured her.
"Can I take your order?" The waitress said to me with an overzealous attitude.
"Umm, nothing for me thank you.
As she left Liz stares me down.
"What?"
"What happened with Tom?"
"I told you everything was fine. Nothing to worry about."
I look down at my phone.
"Your right I'm just," she exhaled.
"I understand. You still care about him. You still love him," I look out of the window.
She didn't say anything after that.
"Got to go I have to meet Red to go over some details," I nodded goodbye and walk out of the small cafe door. The short walk to the park didn't really give me time to think about what just happened. But, was I even right to bring it up like that? Tell her that she still loves her Ex. Am I overstepping? When I get to the park I see it filled with people walking and cherry blossoms. I see Red sitting on a bench overlooking the Potomac. I sit beside him looking at the view. "Did everything go alright, he didn't hurt you?"
"One, you asked that already and two, I'm fine."
"We can take the rest from here Sam. That's all we needed you to do." He turned to me staring at me intensely
"I think this is just the
beginning," I stand from the metal bench. I extend my hand to him. He rolled his eyes and took it. We walked for a little. Admired the flowers, talked about the weather. Normal things that normal people do.
"We should be heading back," Red said taking a quick look at his watch. "Yeah we should head home," the sun already started setting and the number of people at the park fell to only a few runners. My phone starts to ring.
An unknown number. "Hello," I stop right outside of the car. "It's me can we talk," I can here Jacobs voice cold, empty. "It took you long enough. Meet me tomorrow at 2:00 DuPont circle metro station," with that I hung up. "Looks like you need me more then you think." I got to the car. Red could have fought and told me something that I know he was thinking about, but he didn't. He just smiled.-------
