It's was a special night of the season, dressed in more extravagant dresses and hair in loosely pinned styles, the maids worked hard decorating Gray's face with glitter, colourful eyeshadows and pigment. The dark blue around their eyes and forehead and going down their chin to neck matched the blue trimming of the large gown they where dressed in, the hoop of the skirt making it almost impossible for them to sit down at the vanity. The top of the dress was shimmery gold with puffy sleeves, the gold went down their skirt and the layers trailed into a brilliant midnight blue. Feathers of a peacock placed along the trimming of the dress, Gray's makeup was applied like a mask, a mask of a peacock. It was the family animal, a peacock, and tonight all the ladies and gentlemen attending the party would be dressed as their families animal. It was like a masquerade party, decorated with colourful makeup and outfits, dresses that where no longer in style but still beautiful. It was one of the most anticipated ball's of the season, even Gray was looking foreword got the night ahead.
They particularly loved the fancy ball gowns and the makeup, dressing in a way you normally couldn't. Yes the dresses where awkward to manage and the shoes didn't make it any better, but they where still fun and didn't push up their chest like the normal dresses do. It was also a disguise so they could talk to Rae.
It had been over a week since the night at the art club, San has stayed true to his word ands kept Rae as far away from Gray as he could, it hurt the two not being able to talk. Gray had been struggling to keep away from Hongjoong, but thankfully Seonghwa was there for them, he kept them occupied at parties, on picnics they would walk, even though Gray didn't want to admit it, they enjoyed his company. They where looking forward to seeing him tonight, seeing him being dressed up as his animal.
The maid moved away from Gray's face to reveal the blue and gold face paint making them resemble a peacock (I'll send you the photo, when you read this ask me). Their hair had been put in a ponytails, loose strands falling around their face and a handful of small braids where hidden in the style. Gray stood up and walked over to the large mirror in the corner of their room and stared at their reflexion, they smiled at their reflection, doing a twirl and watching the dress around them flow with their movement.
There was a knock on the door and Gray went over, looking up at Yeosangs blue and gold makeup similar to theirs, his suit was dark blue with gold trimming, black pants and a white undershirt.
"Wow, your dress this year is magnificent." Yeosang gaped at Gray's appearance. They smiled and the two left to the house of the ball.
The ballroom was filled with people dancing and laughing, it was more colourful than the usual dull outfits, it was always a fun event seeing everyones different representative animals. Gray scanned around the room hoping to find either of the few people they hoped to find. They finally spotted Rae in the crowd, standing with Jongho.
She had dark eyeshadow and long lashes with silver along her eyes, deep orange contoured her face and under her nose was painted a blackish brown, her lips where a dark pinkish purple. Her family animal; a fox. It suited them and their family well in Grays mind. Rae's dress had long slim sleeves, it was a bronze colour with a black bow in the back with tails going down almost to the floor. The bodice was white and the top was a bronze jacket style and laced up on the front. Her hair was styled like two ears in the front, and loosely curled in the back with loose hairs framing her face. Jongho was dressed in the same bronze coloured tail coat, black trousers and a thin loose white undershirt, he had similar fox makeup to Rae as well as his hair was styled into ears. The sibling where talking to Yunho, San was no where in sight.q
Yunho's hair wasn't slicked back like usual, it was fluffy and loose, his nose was painted blackish brown and his face was painted with golden glitter and pigment. A puppy, Gray guessed since they didn't really know anyone's family animals. They where zoned out staring till someone cleared their throat from beside them. Gray looked over immediately recognizing Seonghwa's beautiful eyes, they curtsied to him and watched as he bowed.
