The Bet

Chapter 10: October

"Haha Barnes I'm winning by a lot." You say.

"Y/n, you know the rule." Tony says. You frown. "But I wanna brag."

"No talking about the bet on holidays." Tony say. Bucky smirks at you. "Plus I need your help with setting up for the party tonight."

You groan and thrash your arms around. "But I don't wanna." You whine.

"Come on y/n." Tony says as he starts to walk out of the room. You fall to the ground. "I'm not moving." You say.

"Barnes." Tony says. Bucky sighs and bends down to pick you up. He throws you over his shoulder and follows Tony out of the room. You squirm in Bucky's grasp. "Stop wiggling." Bucky says.

"No." You say and continue to wiggle more. Bucky sighs, but tightens his grasp on you so you don't fall.

He follows Tony into the party room. Natasha, Steve, Sam, Wanda, Thor, and Vision are all setting up. Bucky sets you down and you start to collapse.

He catches you by your arms before you hit the floor. "Doll..." Bucky says. You look up at him. "Please stand up." He says. You shake your head no.

"Tony." Bucky sighs. Tony looks over. "Jesus Christ. Alright here you two can go pick these things up for me." Tony hands Bucky a list of things.

"Alright come on doll." Bucky says. You stay where you are. "Are you kidding me." Bucky mumbles. He bends down and picks you up over his shoulder.

He carries you to the garage and opens the passenger door. He sets you down in the seat and buckles you in. He closes the door and walks to the drivers seat.

You unbuckle and run out of the car. "Dammit y/n!" Bucky yells as he runs after you.

He catches up to you and picks you up by your waist. "Come on dolly." He says as he carries you back. He sets you down and buckles you up.

This time, he runs to the drivers seat and sits down fast. You unbuckle and try to get out, but he grabs your shirt and pulls you back.

"It won't take too long doll." Bucky says.

The party started and you stayed next to Natasha the whole time. A lot of people showed up. All dressed up in costumes. You wrote Dave on a piece of paper, tapped it to your shirt and called it good. Thank you Jim Halpert.

Natasha hands you a drink. You take a sip and make a disgusted face. "Yea I took a leap of faith with that one." She says.

You set it down on the counter. "Hey I'm gonna go talk to Bruce." Nat says. Before you can protest, she's gone.

Bucky walks over to you. "You alright Dave?" He asks.

"No. Natasha left me. I'm alone." You say.

Bucky takes a sip of his drink. "I'll keep you company sweetheart." Bucky says.

You take his drink out of his hand and take a sip. "I was drinking that." Bucky says.

"Shut up you can't get drunk." You say.

"What's wrong doll? I've never seen you this... anxious." Bucky says.

"I don't like big crowds." You whisper. Bucky nods, "That's why you were inside most of the day on the 4th of July."

You start tapping on the glass cup when a couple of people come up to you guys to make small talk. Bucky notices and takes your hand. The two of you slip away from the crowd and party.

You end up on the roof with him. "Why are we out here? It's cold. I don't have my jacket." You complain.

Bucky shrugs his leather jacket off and puts it around your shoulders. You slip your arms through the sleeves. The sleeves go past your hands.

"So, what are you supposed to be?" You ask Bucky.

"Danny Zuko." Bucky says.

"Ah I see. You put gel in your hair and everything." You say. Bucky nods. He pulls a comb out of his pocket and combs his hair how Danny does. You giggle.

Bucky takes your right hand in his left one. He grabs your left hand and puts it around his neck, while he puts his right hand on your back.

"What are you doing?" You ask.

"Dancing with you." Bucky says as he sways back and forth with you.

"I don't dance." You say.

"I know." Bucky smirks.

"There's no music." You whisper.

"Then we'll dance to the rhythm of your heartbeat." He says. He leans forward and presses his forehead against yours as you two dance underneath the stars.
