TW: Grief, survivor's guilt

Liam is dead.

Scott pulls out his phone and calls Stiles' father along with 911, they watch as his body gets taken away. The Sheriff asks what happened and no one answers, "Does it have something to do with the supernatural?"

"No, they were humans that murdered him...in cold blood," Stiles tells.

"We will find them, alright son?"

He knows very well that finding them won't be easy, they are smart. They all hop into his jeep and in his dad's car to the station to explain further to him.

When they arrive, Allison explains that it was her Aunt, Grandfather, Matt, and Theo. The Sheriff is already aware that Theo is a Chimera and is trying his best to keep the Supernatural a secret. Brooklyn walks in,

" I've been looking everywhere for you guys! I found Stiles' and Liam's bag left open on the bleachers...where is Liam?" She slows down as she sees the Sheriff and his son with gloomy faces and realizes something happened to him.

She walks to Scott and waits for an answer but no one has the guts to tell her, especially since her father just died. She looks at Lydia who's makeup is all ruined, Isaac with a bruised eye, and Stiles' hands that are covered in blood.

"What did you do to him?"

"We couldn't save him, I'm sorry," he whispers and gets closer but she backs away.

"Why do these things keep happening to us? This needs to stop."

Everybody heads home as it is already past midnight, they try to get some sleep but they can't. Brooklyn hears her brother crying downstairs and goes to check on him, her mom is already with him.

"He shouldn't have even been a part of this, he didn't deserve that."

"You did what you could Scott, it wasn't your fault."

"But if I had gotten there sooner-"

"Scott!" Brooklyn interrupts, "You couldn't have possibly changed anything."

She tries to hold her tears back as she watches him sob in front of her. Liam was a good kid... he was a part of the pack.

Stiles calls Brooklyn, "Uh, how you doing?"

Stiles calls Brooklyn, "Uh, how you doing?"

"I miss him that's for sure... it was just yesterday that he was making me laugh, and now he's gone."

"He is a hero, he saved Lydia. Hey when I was in that moment, it gave me deja vu. From the last time they tried to kill Scott, and you saved him. I thought you were going to die in my arms but you didn't, although Liam did..."

"I'm sorry you had to experience that twice."

"You know, he was a lot like you, he took risks and he was brave-"

His voice fades away as she scrolls through her missed calls and sees a missed voicemail by Liam. "I-I'm going to have to call you back," she stutters and hangs up.

She sits on her bed and plays the message:

"Is this recording? Ok um, what was I going to say? Oh yeah, we have our Lacrosse game soon and we are probably going to lose like usual. Anyway, I hope you are doing ok and I hope you can get back to watch the game for Stiles.

I can sense him panicking because you aren't here to support him. Also, I'm going to ask out Hayden after the game! I'm taking your advice of not being a sissy, you only live once right?" He laughs, "See you tomorrow!"

It goes silent and she bawls her eyes out and cries into her pillow, she didn't even get to say goodbye.

One Week Later

Stiles and Brooklyn sit in his jeep, he turns the engine on before looking in the back seat.

"What's wrong?" She asks him after looking at the empty seats.

"Nothing- I, it's just, a habit. Liam would always be asleep back there, or trying to scare me."

They sigh.

It is the day of the Funeral and along with Liam's family, the pack and the coach are there. Isaac looks over at where his happy face normally rests, but he only sees a sad one. The coach was never sad, they are used to him cursing at his players and making fun of Liam.

As for Stiles, instead of sarcastic comments, a loving speech. Before long he doesn't get to finish it because he loses control of his breathing and has to leave.

There is not a single person who isn't crying, It all happened so suddenly and so fast. His father takes Stiles' place, "He was still very young and had his whole life ahead of him, he was the best player in Lacrosse, so his coach says."

Isaac and Scott can't help but feel guilty for not being able to save Liam.  As Brooklyn stands there in the cemetery, it feels like a dream, like none of this ever happened.  The coach, usually loud and commanding, is sitting in the back with his head down, holding his hands and wiping away his tears. Amidst all the sorrow, there is still a feeling of peace and love. Everyone remembers the look of joy and pride on Liam's face when he was able to make the team.

"He didn't have many friends once he started his Sophomore year but he found these wonderful Juniors that never left his side. Despite the pain and sadness, Liam will never be forgotten. He will live on in the memories of the ones he loved, and the ones who loved him. Everywhere he was, he somehow never failed to cause trouble but, he definitely made our lives a little bit more interesting. In loving memory, gone yet not forgotten."

It felt like hours before anyone was able to even move, but eventually, everyone had to say their goodbyes and face the reality that Liam was gone. No one knew what to do next or how to move on from the death of their beloved friend. Everyone mourned him in their own way and in their own time, but one thing was for sure, he would never be forgotten.
