Tomi walked home after her argument with her mate, sobbing and sniffling the whole way into her sweater paws. It was unfair─ it wasn't supposed to be like this. They were souls made to be one, so why couldn't he understand that she needed to be her own person? Why couldn't he understand that she needed to gain control on herself before she went insane and stuck between shadow and light?
Coming home felt good. Finding Bella sprawled on the couch, a slight smile on her face, felt even lovelier.
"Hi," ─ Bella's eyes cut to her sister, and her voice wavered ─ "Tomi? Oh, dear God," She straightened herself up and opened her arms a bit awkwardly.
Tomi didnt hesitate throwing herself into her sister's arms. The two layed back onto the couch, and Bella held her tightly as they swayed slightly. "Shh, what's going on? What happened?"
"I can't-" Tomi hiccuped into her sentence, her words long gone into her falling tears.
Bella let her breathe for a long moment, still swaying and rubbing at her sister's back gently.
"Tomi," Bella began, only to be struck by the reality that this probably had to do with Edward.
"What did he do?"
"I need.. I died.. and he doesn't understand that I want to understand what I was given-" A pause. "I need to understand what I am."
Bella sighed softly, and half heartedly let go of Tomi. The two sat on opposites of the couch, one's legs extended and the other crossed. "When James reached out to me," Bella began, seeming hesitant. "I went to the Cullens for help first. And when that didn't help, I went to Jacob. The elders of his clan were of the best help, so, maybe they could help you too?"
"You.. you think so?" Tomi sniffled some more, wiping her nose with the sleeves of her shirt.
"Yes."
"What.. how did they help you?"
"They found I had a shield. I can negate any other creature's power. It was useful to keep Edward and the rest of James' friends out of my head."
