Tapping her foot ceaselessly, Tomi gazed at herself in the mirror anxiously. She looked beautiful. Breath-taking, even, with her dark strapless dress, the lacy hood on her head that descended down her body in a cape of soft, gossamer like fabric that nearly resembled her shadows.
Her bust was made entirely of lace, and nothing would have been hidden if it weren't for the band of silk that went all around her chest.
The corset descended against her hips and waist, beaded in a triangle shape that started between the valley of her breast and ended at the waistline of the dress. It was short to her knees, but the seamstress had added an underlying soft layer of silk that covered Tomi's legs.
Her face was carefully colored with some blush and her eyes encased with mascara and coal to make the purple of them pop. She had some glossy color on her lips that made them twinkle everytime she smiled.
Just downstairs, where all her friends and family sat waiting for the reception to start, Tomi would be getting married to the love of her life.
She tightened her hold on the bouquet- a mix of beautiful flowers arranged by Lehada, who had once told her what every each of the flowers meant in their language.
She closed her eyes. Let a breath loose itself amongst the shadows swallowing the room.
After a summer spent settling in Forks and selling the previous Cullen house, helping Gwendolyn build up her connections and healing, it was finally time to make good on her words.
She wasn't nervous to marry Edward. They belonged with each other. It had long been established that they were each other's only ones.
She was that kind of giddy that made her hands sweat and shake, but it wasn't a bad kind of anxiety. It was a rumour of pure joy igniting inside of her, and she hadn't felt it in so long that it had her breath running awfully short.
A knock sounded at the door, and Tomi turned, calling for them to come in.
"Hey," her mom popped her head through the crack in the door, her face looking old and young all at once. "Can I come in?"
Tomi's mouth fell lined on her face, but she nodded nonetheless at Renée.
The woman walked in, the door closing immediately behind her.
