Heaven in Hiding (Negan)

Chapter 51

The sun creeped in my window as I stretch out in my bed. I clung to the warmth of my bed before I heard it. The patting of little feet down the hall. I let out a sigh before I heard it.
"Mama! Wake up time!" Jenny little voice sang as she hopped on my bed.
"Yeah yeah." I groaned as I sat up. My little baby now 6 years old. She was a spitting image of Negan. Long almost black hair. Hazel eyes and the attitude to boot.
"I'm hungry! You promised pancakes!" She squeezed happily.
"Fuck. I did. Didn't I?" I laughed as I got out of bed. "Let get all dressed and cleaned up so we can go get flour at the store." I told her. She nodded and jumped off the bed and toward her room. I smiled and walked to the bathroom. I got ready and walked into Jenny's room. She was dressed in a cute little dress and some a flip flops.
"I'm ready! Let's. Get. Going!" She said with emphasis on the last three words. God she was just like him wasn't she?
"Alright sweet pea. Let's go." I held out my hand and she eagerly took it. We walked out of the house and into the town. People still weren't big fans of me but most have warmed up to Jenny. She was a very social kid after all. Like her dad, she never shut up. "The store!" She shouted pointing to the place they kept the food and rations. She pulled me along and walked up to the table. "One flour please!" The woman chuckled and looked at me.
"A small bag of flour if you have it." I told her. She nodded and looked in a book. She wrote my name and turned to get the flour.
"Mama. You think we can sneak some to daddy." She whispered. I smiled and knelt down to her.
"I bet we could." She giggled and nodded. While we were very rarely able to actually see Negan in his cell ,other then Jenny's birthday, we talked through the window outside his cell so she knew her dad. She loved him even tho he was stuck in that cell. The woman came back and handed me the flour. "Thank you." I told her. She smiled politely and nodded. We were on our way back when we saw Michonne and RJ. He was a year younger then Jenny so they got along great.
"RJ!" Jenny shouted and run up to him. He smiled and hugged her. She looked back to me. "Can we play for a little?" She asked me. I looked at Michonne and she nodded.
"For a little." I told her. She smiled and off they went to the small area of grass off to the side. Michonne and I say on the sidewalk watching them play. "They're cute aren't they?" I asked with a smile.
"Yeah. They play well." No change in her facial expression tho she never really changes her expression.
"You going out today?" I asked. She nodded.
"Want me to watch RJ for you?"
"No. He's going to be with Nora." I sighed.
"Alright. Just thought I'd offer."
Ten minutes passed and Michonne took RJ. Jenny and I went back home and made our pancakes. We had a great little breakfast together as always.
"All done!" She said and pulled her chair to the sink to wash her hands. I did the same then grabbed the paper we used to wrap up food and wrapped a few of the leftover pancakes. Jenny grabbed them from my hands and ran to the door. "Let's bring these to daddy!" She said as she slipped her shoes on.
"Yeah. I'm coming hold on." I chuckled as I slide my boots on. I grabbed her hand as we walked toward Negans cell. By now they had already gave him his breakfast so there wouldn't be anyone there. Jenny and I both knew the schedule by now. We finally got there and looked around and didn't see anyone around.
"Lift me," Jenny whispered. I smiled and put her on my shoulders and walked over the the bared window. "Psstt. Daddy. Daddy. Daddy."
"What's that I hear out there?" Negans deep voice spoke from inside. "Maybe it's a bear. Or lion. A ghost?" He said which gained a giggle from Jenny.
"No daddy. It's me! Jenny!" She giggled and Negans face popped up in the window.
"Well, would you look at that. It is. How's my girl doin today?" He asked with a smile.
"I'm good!" She said before looking side to side and lowering her voice. "We got stuff to sneak you." She whispered before sliding the pancakes through the bars to him. I heard him open them up and take a bite.
"Holy. Shit. You make these sweetheart? They are delicious."
"Me and mommy!"
"Well you girls did great." I smiled at him. "How you doing Doll?" He asked.
"I'm alright. Bored and lonely."
"Go out there Doll. You said they asked a while ago."
"Yeah. But Jenny."
"Don't worry mama. Nora can watch me. Then I can play with RJ." Jenny piped up.
"There ya go. You need to get back out there Doll. That shits like mother milk to you. You're too badass to be playing the stay at home mom." I sighed.
"Maybe."
"I squished a bug yesterday!" Jenny said to him.
"Damn Sweetheart. What did it do to you?" Negans asked.
"Looked at me funny," she said in an a matter of fact tone. Negan chuckled.
"She really is my kid ain't she?"
"You're telling me. She never stops talking." I laughed. We heard footsteps coming and I looked at Negan. "I love you. We'll sneak by again."
"I know you will Doll. Love you." He turned and looked to Jenny. "Love you too sweetheart. Take care of your mom okay?"
"Love you too daddy. I will." She said before I took her off my shoulders and we quickly walked away.

I made my way to the daycare area Nora was at. She and a few others watched the kids while the parents went out to scavenge. I walked over to her as she sat outside with the kids. She looked over and stood up to walk over.
"Prudence. Right?" She asked.
"Yeah. Yeah that's me. And this is Jenny. I was wondering if you guys could watch Jenny a few times a week. So I could go out and start helping the community more. You know?" She looked to me then to Jenny.
"Sure. We could do that." She said.
"Really? That's great! Thanks so much. I appreciate it."
"Sure." She responded. I nodded and grabbed Jenny's hand.
"Alright. Let's go sweetheart." She happily followed as we made our way back toward our house. I heard a commotion at the gates and walked over. There were a few new people and Michonne. I guess they found some survivors while they were out. It looked like they were being taken to the holding area. I walked up to Michonne.
"Everything okay?" I asked her.
"It will be."
"Okay. I wanted to ask if the offer to go out and help was still on the table. I asked Nora and she agreed to watch Jenny." Michonne sighed as she looked at me.
"You sure you're ready?"
"More then sure."
"Alright. You can start going out tomorrow. We really do need the help." I smiled.
"Thank you so much!"
"Sure. And there will be a meeting in an hour to discuss these new people. So just leave Jenny with Nora."
"She'll sit still you know. I don't need Nora to watch her."
"Well I'd like your input as well. You were a leader that had to keep people safe and Rick always trusted your judgement." I was taken aback by her offer.
"Oh. I mean of corse! I honestly thought you guys still hated me." I chuckled nervously.
"Many aren't fond of you but I know Rick would have valued your opinion so that's what I'm doing." I smiled at her.
"I appreciate it Michonne. Really. I'll go bring her to Noras and meet at the church." She nodded and walked away. I looked over to Jenny with a smile and she returned it.
"See mama. Michonne likes you." She told me.
"I don't know about likes me. But let's go to Noras again. Want to go play with RJ?"
"Ummm YES!" She shouted and started pulling me back in the direction of her house.
