Since Jenny was with Gracie I decided to go for another walk around the community. I heard a small commotion by the gate and made my way over to it. They wouldn't open the gate without Michonnes permission. I climbed up and looked over the gate. It was Daryl but he wasn't alone. He has a girl I've never seen before,a blonde teenager that I think was Henry and Connie. I smiled and waved to Connie. She was one of the people from that new group. The young girl that was with them looked like she was maybe 15 or 16. She had long dark brown hair and looks like she went through hell.
I heard footsteps and Michonne walked up. She looked down at them.
"Henry is hurt. You were closest." Daryl spoke. "I wouldn't have come if there was another choice."
"What about her?"'Michonne asked motioning toward the girl.
"She's with us." Henry said and Daryl nodded.
"Open it." Michonne spoke. I made my way down as the gate opened and they walked in. I smiled and hugged Connie.
"Hey! What happened?" I asked her. She scribbled in her little notebook and held it up.
'A lot. Don't ask.' I laughed.
"Fair enough." I looked to Michonne. "Want me to walk them to Saddiqs?"
"Yes. I'll meet you there."
"Alright." I looked to the group. "Let's go." We walked slowly toward the infirmary and I looked back at the girl. "So, what's your name?" I asked her.
"Lydia." She said quietly.
"Lydia huh? That's such a pretty name. So. Are you and Henry here an item," I asked her with a small smirk. Henry's cheeks turned red and I chuckled. "Hey, I'm all for young love here. Love happens fast and hard with people you never even think it's possible from."
"Like you and Negan." Henry spoke.
"Yeah. Kind of. Lydia. How's you find us?" I asked. She just looked away. "It's okay. You don't have to tell me. I mean I'm sure Michonne will tell me anyway." We got to the infirmary and I got Henry to a bed. I walked to the door where Michonne was. She gave me a quick run down of Lydia and I stood there a bit stunned. "Shit. So they're going to come for her. Eventually."
"More then likely. I have things to do. Do you think you can keep an eye on the girl?"
"Lydia. Yeah. I can do that." She nodded and off she went. Eventually Saddiq stitched up Henry's leg and all was well. They wanted some fresh air so we went outside. The couple sat on the stoop and I stood a bit away from them. To allow them some time together. I couldn't help but smile. They were cute together.
"So, have you two kissed already?" I asked and Henry looked over at me shocked. I laughed. "Come on you definitely have. That's adorable. I remember when you were Jenny's age now you're all grown up." He blushed.
"He better be taking care of you Lydia. Kicking ass in your name right?" I asked. She gave me a smile and nodded.
"Yeah. He's been helping me a lot." She said.
"Good. As any man should for their partner." Our conversation was interrupted by Michonne. She wanted to speak to Lydia without Us. Henry and I walked a bit down the way to a bench by the small garden.
"MAMA!" I heard Jenny shout as she ran up to us. "Who is this!" She asked looking at Henry.
"Sweet pea this is Henry. You knew him when you were a baby." He looked at her and smiled.
"I remember her. She was still really small. Now you're big." He said. Her smile grew.
"Yeah. I'm big now! I play with Gracie and Judith!" I smiled.
"Speaking of which. Why aren't you with Gracie?"
"I got bored and I missed you. They said there's a little party tonight here!"
"Oh?"
"Yeah. Can We go? Pleaseeeee!" She begged.
"Sure."
"Yay! I'm gonna go play with RJ. See you later!" She said and ran off. I sighed.
"I forget how old she is you know?" I said to Henry. "But then I remember all the things kids like you and Judith were doing at her age. I just started giving her almost free range here."
"She needs it." Henry said.
"Yeah. You're right." I smiled and sat all the way back.
"It's hard doing this parenting thing alone." I looked over to see Lydia walking over. "Hey. Everything okay?" I asked. She nodded. "Good."After the sun went down the small party got started. The kids were sitting around playing games with Saddiq and I was helping Aaron get all the food ready and handing out. I loved seeing Jenny being a kid with the others. I noticed Daryl and Henry getting ready to leave. Along with Lydia. I walked with them to the gate. I turned to Henry.
"You better keep an eye on Lydia. Keep her safe." I told him. He chuckled and nodded. "Good. And Lydia. You keep him in line okay? Men need that from time to time." She smiled and nodded. I nodded back to her before I gave Connie a hug.
"Stay safe out there. Okay?" They all nodded and left. I let out a long sigh and made my way back to the small party. Jenny was already nodding off. I picked her up and we went home. It was a long day for her.———————
The next morning was more of the same. Got up and had breakfast. Got ready for the day. I glanced out the window to see Judith climbing over the gate.
"The fuck." I said under my breath as I looked at Jenny. "Jenny. Stay here. I have to go do something."
"Okay mommy. I'll clean up!" I smiled as I ran and strapped my holster on.
"Thanks sweet pea. I hope I won't be long." I said and I put my boots on and threw on my bomber jacket. I left and rant over to the gate where Judith left. I climbed over and followed her trail. She was going toward that big open field. I caught up to her eventually but hung back a bit. She was just killing walkers. Looked like she was just blowing off some steam. Maybe she was looking for Daryl? I watched as she killed a bunch of walkers but one reached up and grabbed her. I pulled my knife from my holster and ran over and stabbed it in the head. Right as I did that Michonne ran up. Judith grabbed onto her mom and I let out a relieved sigh. Michonne looked to me and mouthed thank you. I smiled and nodded as I stood back up.
"I'll see you two back at Alexandra. I just ran and left Jenny when I saw Judith jump the gate." Michonne nodded and I went off. Back toward Alexandra.Jenny was right where I left her. She was sitting on the couch looking at a book. She looked over and smiled.
"Mama! Is everything okay?" She asked me.
"Yeah. Everything is good. How about we go see daddy?" I asked her. Her smile spread across her face.
"Yes! Please!" She ran and put her shoes on and grabbed my hand. "Let's go!"
We walked down toward his cell and noticed the window was closed. Shit.
I walked to the door and it was unlocked. I gripped Jenny's hand and we slowly walked down the stairs.
"Well shit it's a little early for lunch ain't it?" Negans voice spoke. Jenny's little feet ran down the stairs to the cell. "Holy shit. If it ain't my girls." He said with a big smile.
"Daddy! I missed you! The window was closed so we snuck in!" Negan chuckled.
"More like it was unlocked." I said walking all the way down with my arms crossed.
"Hey there Doll. Still pissed at me?" He asked.
"A little. Yeah." I told him while standing against the far wall. Jenny was right at the bars of his cell holding onto him.
"Listen Prue. I didn't mean for it to seem like I was just leaving."
"Yeah well that's what it seemed like. Especially when we had the night we had. Why would you just leave?" I asked him keeping my distance from him. Negan looked at me then to Jenny and back to me.
"I really felt like I was holding you all back. I'm rotting in here and you're rotting out there."
"Negan." I said walking up to his cell. "I'm not rotting. This is my home. Our home. I'm sorry you're in here. But trust me I've been trying to get you out. Michonne. She's getting there. Well she was. Before you decided to up and leave." I told him as my gaze went to the red mark that was still on his cheek. He must have noticed because he put his hand to the mark.
"Yeah. You knocked me back with that hit Doll."
"You deserved it." I told him and he chuckled.
"I know I did. And I'm sorry. Being in here. It's making me crazy." I let out an understanding sigh.
"I know it is." I walked right up to the bars as did he. Our lips connected through bars and we heard Jenny giggle. I pulled away and looked down at her. "What's so funny?" I asked her.
"Nothing! I like when you and daddy are happy." Negan knelt down to Jenny and kissed her forehead through the bars.
"Aren't you the sweetest damn thing Jenny. How have you been?" He asked and she told him everything from the past few days. He looked up at me. "So that girl is from those outsiders that wear walker skin?" He asked me.
"Yeah. But she's a sweetheart. She had a rough childhood. Not only with the fall but with an abusive mom. Michonne is still not accepting of her."
"That's not surprising."
"I know. I hoping that changes though." Jenny started drawing in the books she could reach from the bars. Negan playfully ignored her for a bit while we talked. He picked one up and opened it.
"I don't remember this part of my book." He said opening it to a page with a not very well drawn horse on it. Jenny giggled and pointed at the book.
"Look at the next page!" She said and Negan turned it. It was a picture of the three of us. He smiled and ripped it out and put it against the wall so it stood up.
"This is now my favorite thing Jenny."
"We should probably get going." I said realizing how long we've been down here.
"You're probably right." He said walking up to the bars. I gave him a quick kiss before he hugged Jenny through the bars.
"Love you daddy!" Jenny said and ran up the stairs. He chuckled.
"Love you too sweetheart." He looked at me. "I love you too Doll."
"I know." I said before pulling myself away from him. I closed the door and followed Jenny who ran to the park across the street.
