WAKE UP!!! Her head screamed. Plebus groaned, then paused. Chills went down her spine and she realized how much pain she was in. It was very warm, too warm, hot, feeling as if she was burning. She opened her eyes the slightest and gasped. Her eyes filled with tears. She was buried. Buried in debris, charred wood, broken stones, and flames all around her. A wooden beam lay across her back, holding her down. Her eyes widened, immediately beginning to sting as dust and ash drifted into her eyes.
"N-no… Vlinderia…" she sniffed, wiping the tears from her eyes. "I-is everything gone?!" Plebus rested her head on the ground. "Please no. Please no no no NO! This is all a dream! It has to be!" she screamed out at nothing. Nobody could hear her cries for help, or see that she was in danger. At least that’s what she thought. She shut her eyes and sobbed. Her head filled with questions. How could this have happened?! Who was out to destroy our home?! Where is mother and father? Is everybody ok? Was just this town destroyed, or the whole realm? Wh- A hand clamped over her mouth, interrupting her thoughts. Her muffled screams made no sound. She opened her eyes and noticed that she was now in an open field. The grass was singed, and the fields of wheat were on fire. Beyond that, she couldn’t see with the clouds of ash in the air, or the tall grass.
"Stay quiet and you'll live, I'm going to let you go but you have to follow me and not say a word. Do you understand." Plebus just nodded her head. She couldn’t see who was behind her. The hand released its grip from her mouth. She instantly turned around, and her gaze met with a young man with blonde hair and two glowing, red eyes. A pair of shiny black horns sat atop his head.
"W-who are you?" she tried to whisper as quietly as she could. The man sighed."I said don’t say a word." he snarled, grabbing her hand. He ducked a little to get a little below the grass, so nobody could see him or Plebus. Up ahead, she could see an oval. A glowing oval. It was ablaze with blue fire, and spinning sky blue light in the flame's border. He kept running, not turning to look behind him.
"I SEE SOMEBODY!"
"IT’S THE GIRL! GET HER!" Plebus grabbed the man's hand and shoved him off. He stopped and looked back, and watched as Plebus mumbled a few words, and a bright light erupted from the right, about a few yards away. Two figures came out of the light and started running, looking exactly like Plebus and the unknown man himself. She then turned around and faced him. He grabbed her hand.
"I knew you still had it in you." he smiled and continued running.
"THEY'RE OVER THERE NOW! Get them! Zarikyes will not stand for the failure of this mission!" the voices became more distant as they chased the illusions Plebus had created. They neared the portal, and they both jumped in without hesitation.
You can see, the Prophet Soldiers were after Plebus for her genetic ability to summon and create illusions. Illusions that were lifelike. They were never real, although they felt like it. She is one of the children believed as a threat to the Prophets of Fate. Plebus is lucky she dealt with the Prophets of Fate instead of the Abyss. The other children were not so fortunate.
