Aiden walked into the great room where all of the children sat. Some were in tears, some sat gazing out the window. These kids had lost so much in the past few hours, Aiden could imagine what they were going through, as he's had the same experience. He cleared his throat, and everyone's attention was turned to him. Luma wiped the tears from her face as she sat alone by herself. "My name is Aiden. I hope you all don't think I've just kidnapped you or something." he began slowly, "You're all in danger." Aschphath snorted.

"Yeah, no shit dude." Aiden sighed.

"What I'm trying to say is... You're all here because I'm going to protect you. I may have taken some of you from families or a great normal life, but you are not safe there, and never will be until this threat is eliminated." Charlotte looked up with bloodshot eyes and a sad look.

"W-why couldn't we stay...? Y-you can't just... Take c-care of us t-there?" she planted her face into her brother's shoulder and started crying more. Aiden walked over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I'm sorry Charlotte... I couldn't do that... He knew where you were in that world. Here, he won't be able to find you for a while. I had to get you all together so I could protect you all at once." he paused and stood up. "Hey... Guys, I'm here for you... I want you to trust me. I'm going to take care of you and I won't let anything happen to you." he turned around and spun his hand in a circular motion. A portal made of blue fire slowly formed in front of him, leaving almost everyone breathless.

"Come with me, I'll show you where your rooms are."

Luma looked at the two beds on the bunk. Her lips quivered a little before Plebus placed a hand on her shoulder. Luma looked up at her.

"Where did you want to sleep?" Luma looked at the bunk for a few moments before slowly pointing her finger to the top bunk. "Then you can sleep up there." she smiled gleefully. "What's your name?"

"Luma..." she muttered, putting her hands back and forth and swaying her body side to side.

"Nice to meet you, Luma. I'm Plebus." Luma looked away and examined the room. There was a sheet of sparkly and starry champagne-colored fabric making a tent over the top and bottom bunks. There was a desk on the bottom next to the bed, and twinkly lights strung across the roof of the bunk. On the ceiling, there was a crystal chandelier and more twinkling string lights across the massive room. There was a window covering almost the entire wall, giving them a breathtaking view of a city skyline. There were two white desks decorated with gold trinkets, potted plants, and jars of pencils and pens. Above the desks on the wall was a massive widescreen smart TV. There was a large walk-in closet with two separate bathrooms connected to it. There was a large assortment of clothing, including plenty of beautiful blue dresses for Luma. The floor was carpeted, and the walls were white with beautiful pop art canvases. There was also a speaker in the corner of the room, and two boxes on each of the beds, which had a grey and white striped comforter and a couple of white and champagne-colored pillows. Luma climbed up on the bed to behold the marvel of the massive bedroom. She was speechless. Plebus noticed the box and picked it up. It was white with a red ribbon and had a slip of paper with her name written in cursive attached to it. She carefully opened the box. There was a letter inside. She opened it and began to read. It was from Aiden.

I hope you don't think I'm trying to replace any family you've had in the past. I'm just trying to take care of you the best I can and make you feel completely comfortable here. I'm not trying to be a replacement, I'm not trying to be better than anyone. If you need anything you can come to me. If something happens, I need you to tell me. If something bad happens to you, trust me I will deal with the problem idmediatly. Hope you enjoy the rooms and the gifts, and sleep well.

Aiden

Plebus smiled. Aiden seemed like a really kind and caring person. She set the letter down and looked in the box. There was a phone, a bracelet, a pair of earrings, a pair of AirPods, and a small laptop. Plebus placed the box on the small desk next to her that was attached to the bunk bed. She sighed and collapsed onto the bed, staring at the twinkling lights. She had had a long day. Homeworld was destroyed, and her family was probably dead and gone. She frowned as tears fell from her eyes. She really missed her parents. She missed her friends. She missed everyone back on Vlindaria. For now, she needed to focus on what was happening now and look on the bright side of everything to stay happy, just as her dad had said. Plebus heard Luma snoring, and smiled a little. The lights suddenly turned off, and she heard a quiet automated voice.

"Good night," it whispered.

Aiden walked into his room, and sighed, throwing a bag on the ground. He saw a sillohoute of a woman on his bed.

"Tough day?"

"You seriously have no clue what's going on do you?" Aiden said. A woman slid off the side of the bed and approached Aiden, her tail wagging. She moved her hands slowly from his side to his back and looked up at him.
"No, why don't you tell me?" she said, placing a kiss on his lips. Aiden put his hands on her head and smiled.

"We officially have eight kids." she looked surprised.

"You went to get them today? Why didn't you come to get me? I could have helped..."

"You were not home. Zravroth was coming, I didn't have the time to stop and think. Those kids were about to die... I-I lost one of them too..." he put his head in her shoulder. "Ember I lost her. That look of fear in her eye when Zravroth put the knife through her heart it just... It was sad to watch. I could have been there earlier I should have-" Ember placed a finger on his lips.

"You did all you could. It's not your fault Aiden," she told him. He frowned and turned around, facing the door.

"I'm just nervous about this..."

"It's a lot of responsibility Aiden, you just took a huge step in life, you have every right to be nervous. It's alright."

"What if they don't accept me? I want to be an amazing guardian but they might be frightened or uncomfortable with this situation. Especially since I took them from their homes..."

"You're trying to protect them. Don't worry about it, alright? We'll deal with this... Together..." she kissed Aiden on his cheek and turned to lay back in the bed. "Now go take a shower. I'm not letting you get in this bed while you smell like smoke and ash." Ember grinned. Aiden rolled his eyes.
