Jackson slammed the door behind him, and slumped down to the ground, out of breath. He looked down at his hands and placed his palms on the ground. Instantly, thick, thorny vines grew up from the ground, barricading the door behind him. Where is everyone?! There's nobody here! Everything is empty! And what on earth are those things chasing me!?  He looked up to find himself in an empty white, modern apartment. He was so focused on running he didn’t even notice where he was. He had accidentally run into the wrong place probably. There was a window, sunlight shone through it, practically blinding him. Then it started getting brighter, and brighter. He felt a hand on his shoulder, and he jumped back in surprise. He couldn’t see, but he knew for a fact, somebody… Or something was standing there.

"Come with me if you want to live, or more importantly if you want to keep your mind safe," he said, grabbing his hand. "You with me?"

"W-where is everyone?" he heard a sigh.

"Kid, you're stuck in an illusion. A certain man they call Zravroth has placed you here so nobody would be able to help you as he went off on his mission to..." he paused, then started walking, taking Jackson with him. He felt a sudden jerk of movement and heard glass shattering. He shivered as he felt the cold wind hit his skin, then a bolt of fear went down his spine.

"You're not going to jump are you?!"

"There are five phantoms waiting outside that door, if we go back out there they will take you."

"W-why can't I see anything?"

"It's better you don’t."

"How will we even live if we jump!?"

"Trust me, Jackson." he felt something drag him down, and then all he felt was the floor no longer beneath him. His stomach dropped as they fell, and he began screaming aloud for his life. Then they stopped, there was no pain, and he finally felt his feet touch the ground. He felt something grab him by the armpits, pick him up, and put him on some sort of seat. In the distance, he heard screeching, which was soon drowned out by an engine roaring to life. Suddenly, they were moving, very fast. What made this even scarier was the fact he couldn’t see where they were going. After a few minutes, his vision had slightly returned to him, and they stopped moving. Something grabbed him, carrying him as he felt the man running as fast as he could up a few stairs. He looked over and saw what looked to be a door, and a light, tan-skinned hand reached out and opened the door. Jackson was thrown to the ground, and the door was slammed forcefully as he heard a lock click.

"You have to go now. Stand up." Jackson did as he was told. "You can probably see a lot better now, so I need you to walk into that portal." Jackson rubbed his eyes and looked ahead of him, where a ring of blue fire pulsed continuously.

"W-what is that thing?! Where are you trying to put me! What about my family? I can't just leave them!"

"Jackson, I don’t know how to get you out of this illusion, I don’t know how to place you back into your world. The best I can do is place you somewhere where you will be protected, not constantly in danger. Now please go!" the man slammed himself into the door as something pounded forcefully on it. He struggled to keep it shut, even with the lock on it. Jackson shook in fear, not being able to form a sentence or move any muscle in his body. It was happening again…  Not here not now!  "Kid you need to go!" Jackson could see him more clearly now. A man, maybe in his early 20's, with blonde hair and fluffy ears. "JACKSON!" he screamed his name, and lept forward, the force of the man's hands slamming into his body knocked him off his feet and into the portal. All he could see before everything went black were shadows entering the man's mouth and eyes, as he lay on the ground unconscious.

Jackson was rescued, all thanks to a stranger's sacrifice. Jackson would always rue the day he froze still, instead of listening, and maybe his savior would have had a chance, to survive. Or, whatever happened to him.  The phantoms were after Jackson, trying to destroy him so that there would be one less threat to the Abyss. The stranger must have known of the phantom's plans and interfered to stop them, sending him to the safest place possible where Aiden would later find him.
