Five Days Later…

Aiden walked down the hallway, searching for Luma. She had not been seen for a few hours, and all the kids have been hanging out in the basement. He didn’t want to worry anyone else, so he decided to search for Luma himself. As he neared the section which had a view of the pool, he sighed in relief. Luma was just playing with toys by the poolside. He then noticed a small package-like object, with a blinking red light. His eyes widened in fear, and he broke through the window. He landed next to Luma, wrapped her in his arms, and summoned a shield of light that protected them from an explosion. Luma began sobbing and she hugged Aiden tight. The shield vanished. The bomb had torn up some of the tiles and charred some of the concrete. It broke the glass and sliding door to the house and had damaged the pool.

"Luma are you alright!?" she sniffed and nodded her head. Ember rushed out of the house and gasped. Aiden gave her a look, she knew exactly what it meant. Zravroth had found them.

Luma had fallen asleep in Maira's arms. The other kids were minding their own business, playing video games, or reading. Nobody seemed to want to say a word since the accident. Cayde looked over at them and frowned. He stood up, dropped his controller, and walked over to them. Cayde sat down beside them and smiled.

"How is she?" Maira shrugged.

"Ok, I guess. She was still a little shaken up. If Aiden hadn't jumped in and saved her she would have been dead." she sighed. Cayde sat in silence for a moment.

"Aiden's a good guy… He really cares about us doesn't he?" Maira gave him an odd look.
"Well of course he does!" she smiled. "I've known him for a long time, he's been taking care of me ever since my parents abandoned me. I never really wanted to go with him, I wanted to be by myself. But when Zravroth came, I knew I had to go with him."  Cayde thought for a moment before speaking again.

"So… Who is this Zravroth guy?" he asked. Maira seemed unprepared for the question. She turned to him and frowned.

"I don’t… Really know… Some guy who wants to take over the world. He's trying to kill everybody with magical powers so nobody rises up to destroy the Abyss someday. That’s just his mission. I honestly believe there's some good in him… Sounds crazy, but y'know that’s just a feeling."

"Why do you say that?"

"He spared my sister's life. Not once, but twice," she said. She also had the same powers I do, but he still spared her. I wanted to trade my life for hers, he let me. Aiden rescued me both times, but… He's holding her hostage now. I have no way to get to the Abyss, but Aiden won't let me go. He promised we would get her back one day…"

"Why did has he kept her alive all this time?"

"He wants hybrid souls. He has a debt to pay an evil scientist. The scientist wants the souls for an experiment. Last I heard, he was after a pair of werewolf twins who were on-" she paused and her eyes lit up. "The Overworld… That’s where we are right?!" Cayde cocked his head.

"Yeah…?"

"We're going to save those wolf twins!" she whispered.

"Why don’t we tell Aiden?" he whispered back.

"Because he might not let us go! We deserve to try and complete a mission ourselves, we can do this Cayde! Will you come with me?" Xander looked behind him and saw Maira and Cayde talking in hushed tones. He frowned. Is Cayde trying to keep something from him? Cayde looked down then at Xander, the back to Maira.
