Ember wiggled the pan of scrambled eggs and flipped them in the air. They landed back on the pan with a splat. Ember's ears perked up and she whirled around, surprised to see a young girl standing there.
"Oh hello! I'm Ember, Aiden's girlfriend." she smiled. The girl looked around the room in awe, amazed at how large, and beautiful the kitchen was. Her attention towards her surroundings was interrupted when she heard Ember's voice.
"And you are…?" she looked at her, seeming not interested at all.
"Aschphath. Just call me Asch," she muttered. Ember smiled and put the pan back on the stove. She picked up a plate of eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns that was on the counter, and brought it to Aschphath.
"Here you go! You can sit anywhere you'd like." Aschphath took the plate and stared at it for a moment.
"W-what is this?" she asked pointing to the hashbrowns, looking disgusted. Ember had a shocked look on her face.
"It's hashbrowns! Its little crispy shredded potatoes!" she exclaimed, "you've never had those before?" Asch frowned and looked at it.
"No…"
"Oh, you'll love it! Trust me, just try it!" Ember urged, handing her a silver fork. She sighed and took a small bite. Her eyes lit up in an instant.
"That’s actually… Really good," she said, making Ember smile again. Ember turned back around to finish cooking the eggs.
"Glad you like it," she said. "You think everybody else knows where to go? I mean, to get breakfast… I should go get them." she said. Aschphath laughed.
"This isn't even breakfast. This is lunch, it's 1:09." Asch said, looking at the wall clock. Ember shrugged.
"I suppose you are right."
Aiden walked into the kitchen, smiling at what he saw. The kids were all sitting together, talking and getting to know each other. Cayde and Xander seemed unaffected by the experience, due to the fact that they had lost their family two years ago. Maira was very happy. She had known Aiden for a long time and knew she would have to go with him at some point. The other children were still sad and worried but seemed to be getting along and cheering up. Ember walked up behind him and started playing with his hair. She pointed at Cayde and Xander.
"Found those two asleep together this morning. Jackson was just about to dump a cup of iced water on them." Aiden chuckled.
"Seems like he's enjoying his roommates."
"Jackson said they were snoring too loud."
"I can see that." Aiden turned to her.
"I'm just happy that they're more comfortable now. They start school next week."
"Everybody is probably going to be surprised that Aiden Valshiriah has eight children," Ember said. "You did do the spell, correct?" Aiden nodded.
"I did. From now on, they're all technically our children in every database there is," he said.
"You think they'll get along with anybody at school?"
"Of course, they're great kids, they have each other's backs. They will be just fine I promise you." Aiden said, then looking at the kids." Aiden frowned, looking worried.
"What's wrong?"
"What if Zravroth finds us? Before they're ready…" Ember sighed and put a hand on his shoulder. Aiden stared out the window.
"If he does, we'll be prepared to defend the kids."
"Zravroth is strong, and with my brother's body, he's even more powerful… I don’t know if I'm ready to face him sometimes…"
"Stop worrying. Tell yourself you can do it and believe in yourself. You have to be confident and prepared to face whatever challenges Zravroth throws at you. You cant let your relationship with your brother get in the way either. Sometimes you have to face the truth, your brother is long gone. He can't come back, Zravroth is not your brother either." she said. Aiden sighed.
"I know…"
"Then go be the hero those kids need. And the father…"
