I hated school. I hated waking up early and putting on that uniform and talking to all of those girls who tried to get me to notice them. What a catch. First string center, captain of the hockey team. Good looking, I guess. Well here's the thing-I didn't want their attention. And I still don't.
All I wanted was to be with Jessie.
"Guys! I'm going to Trader Joes. Call me if you need me. Don't answer the door." Tia shouted as she left the house with her hippie-recyclable bag and started driving away, leaving me to my math homework that made absolutely no sense. I rolled out of my chair and grabbed my phone to text my drama club friends. Drama club, you ask? I don't seem like the type, I know. But in all honesty Jessie dragged me into it and the other members became my friends. The drama club wasn't really a drama club because we couldn't find enough people to put on a production last year, but this year everyone(especially Avery) was trying to recruit. I didn't want any more people in the club, though. I knew everyone and it was easy to be with them. I didn't have to pretend I liked people I didn't or say something I didn't want to. The last thing I wanted was another member to join the club. But of course, somebody would. And that person would rock Ravenshire academy so hard the entire student body would freak. I didn't think about the possibility then and just focused on what I never could do. Quadric equations.
Have any of you finished
the math homework yet?Freya

i can't tell you how many times I've had to listen to Doja Cat. 'Get into it' will be forever ingrained in my memory.I heard a knock on the door. Weird. Tia just told me not to answer the door. Maybe we needed our pipeline checked or something. Don't answer the door, she said. I heard my older sister's door crack open and heard her gasp. "RUBEN!" I jumped out of my seat and ran into the hallway that connected our rooms. "What is it?" She cracked open her door with her sign reading GIRLS ONLY, NO TRESSPASSING!
VIOLATORS WILL BE SLAPPED. "I have a date but I'm not ready yet. Could you entertain Evan for a few minutes?" She hissed while curling her strawberry blonde hair. I sighed. "Do I have to?" "Yes. As my little brother, you are my underling." She slammed the door and I groaned as the doorbell rang. Bong, Bong, Bong! I tromped down the stairs and opened the door to reveal a tall, blue eyed and chestnut haired teen with a smattering of hair gel and axe body spray. He was identical to a boy on my hockey team named Soren. Must be brothers. If this guy is anything like Soren, though...ugh..."Sorry, I must have the wrong house...I have a date." "With Harper?" "Yeah! But...who are you?" "Her brother." "Her brother?! But you guys look nothing alike!" I frowned at him. "I moved in with my aunt and uncle years ago, a while after they adopted Harper." I was Hispanic and she was...well, the average American teenage girl. We did look nothing alike, but I was tired of repeating myself to every person who did a double take when they saw us together. "But you would be her cousin then." He wrinkled his nose. Wow, Harp sure can pick em'. "My aunt and uncle are essentially my parents. My mom died and my dad left. Happy?" I snapped. Evan raised his hands in a sort of surrender, like he was trying to say 'Hey, sorry that I questioned two people who don't look the same being related to each other. It's not my fault I grew up in a racist household'. "Look, I just came here to pick up a pretty girl to watch an AMC movie. Just pretend that we can stand each other." I scowled as Harper came down the stairs. "Evan! You're here! Having a talk with Ru?" "Yeah, we're having a fantastic time." I sarcastically muttered under my breath. Evan stepped forward and grinned at Harper with a smile cheesier then Punch Pizza's margarita. "Ready to go?" She linked her arm in his and gave me a smile. "Aren't we perfect together?" I managed a single nod as they walked out.
