If you really want to get into how it all started, I would say it started that afternoon at target. It was after school and mom, Jessie and I were looking through the racks for "late back to school shopping". Jessie was looking forelornley at the more than magic displays for ten year olds when I bumped into him. "You okay?" "Yeah, I'm fine." I looked across the aisles to see what he was actually looking at. It was a girl, about as tall as us, dressed all grungy like she thought she was a rock star. But even if she wore hobo clothes she would still be beautiful.
"You know her?" "No." "She looks pretty." And now the girl was looking at us like she had bionic hearing and heard everything we said. We had a stare down for a moment in time, not wanting to be the one who turned away first. She stared at me with her eyes like she was deciphering a puzzle. Suddenly mom pulled Jessie in the opposite direction and I had no choice but to follow. I couldn't leave without one last glance at the girl. And I will never forget what she did.She smiled.
