I was walking along the main hall by the front entrance looking for Ruben. When a flash of red caught my eye.Yep. The punk-goth-musician girl from target. What were the odds?
She was looking at the intimidating trophy case and also looked very lost. "Hey, um..." She looked up at me and straightened her glasses. "Oh. Target boy. Hi?" I nervously chuckled. "That's me! Sorry for the weird encounter." "What brings you to my introverted 5-feet circle of personal space?" She asked. Progress! "Well, I noticed you were looking kind of lost, and I haven't seen you here before..." "Yep. I'm new. Straight from NY." "Cool. I heard they have a lot of cool acting programs there!" She beamed. "Yeah, my mom's a producer. Or she was...it's complicated." She blinked. I scratched my head."I should have said this earlier. I'm-" "JESSIE!" Avery crashed into me, pelting me with a hug from behind."Whoya talking to?" She looked up at the target girl. "Oh, it's you! Hi, I'm Avery, nice to meet you! Well, meet you for the second time. The first time was just a stare off and it was kinda weird. But anyway, I'm Avery and this is Jessie, my crazy little brother!" Okay, did I mention that Avery was normally insane? I was pretty sure she just finished her period or something."Little by height, not age. I'm four minutes older." I replied as the target girl gave a smirk. "I'm Quinn." "Hey Quinn!" Avery went in for a hug and surprisingly, she got one back. She and Quinn were about the same height, but looked very different. Unlike most of the people in this school who were just white. "You said you were into acting?" Quinn leaned against the lockers. "We're both in the drama club." I pointed to me and Avery. "Could I join?" I gawked. "You want to?" "Yeah, I love putting on productions!" "Well then, sure!" Avery cheered as Quinn beamed. "We don't currently have a production in the works but we're working on ideas. Sit at our lunch table in the food court and you can meet our friends!" "Okay!" The bell rang and Quinn ran down the hall through a crowd of people, shouting over her shoulder, "See ya!" Avery raised her eyebrows as other students milled around in no hurry. "She knows that's only the warning bell, right?"
