Chapter 12 (Maison)

It's peaceful. Too peaceful.

I keep glancing around the place making sure Reddie (or as I know now: Rikki) doesn't pull a sneak attack. It seems like Jay either doesn't care or he is too absorbed in his marshmallows. Or both.

Yeah, we're going to have to pay for those aren't we?

I grunt and look down an aisle.

"Maison, just give it up," Jay says, "she's gone, and it's a good thing too." He turns to me. "Let's just leave before she decides to come back."

I look at him. "How are you acting so cool about this?" I ask, "Aren't you at least the slightest bit worried? This girl wants you dead and you're acting like it's nothing!"

Jay sighs, "Maison..."

"Fine," I grunt, "let's just find the others and get out of here."

Jay nods and we go to look for Mandy, Tay and Minka. Then Tay decides to come bulldozing into me, giving me and Jay near heart attacks.

"Tay!" I yelp, "Don't do that! I nearly died from a heart attack!"

Tay ignores me and has a freak out and starts shaking me. "She has powers!" she cries, "magicy, magical powers!"

"Tay, calm down!" I says.

"She threw me into Monopoly!!"

"Okay, what?"

Tay drops me and runs over to Jay and does the same thing to him.

"Tay, calm down! We know!" Jay says while being shaken.

Tay stops shaking him and stares off into space.

"You done?" Jay asks, looking at her.

She looks up at him. "You know?"

Jay nods.

Tay stares at him for a short moment. "Oh..." she pauses. "Are you happy about it?"

"Huh?"

"Are you happy to know there are other people with powers like you?"

Jay stares at her for a moment before looking away. "I would be, maybe," he says, "If she wasn't so obsessed with trying to kill me."

"Huh?!" Tay is surprised and confused. "Why?"

"I don't know." Jay says, "Because I wasn't born with my power but she was."

"You weren't born with them?" Tay asks, "Then how'd you get them?"

"Tay that's-" Jay pauses, he sighs, "I found them."

"Found them?" Tay tils her head a bit, "where?"

"Can we please stop asking questions and leave already?!" Jay snaps. It's a bit obvious he doesn't like talking about this kind of stuff.

Tay looks shocked, "I- uh- ...sorry." She looks down at her feet.

Jay sighs, "Tay..." I guess he feels bad for snapping at her. (Anyone would feel bad for making Tay feel bad)

Well, this is awkward. Time to step in.

"Hey!" I say. The two of them look at me. "Don't be sad!"

They stare at me then look at each other. Tay looks surprised for a second but then giggles. "Yes, he is a dork!"

They both laugh.

"Wait, what?" I ask, "I'm confused now."

"Should I show him?" Jay asks Tay. Tay nods.

"Show me what?" I ask. Stupid secrets, I'm sick of them.

'Hey, dork!' I nearly jump out of my skin when I hear Jay's voice in my head. 'Surprise!'

I squeak and shake my head. "No! That's not allowed!" I cry, "Stay out of my head you marshmallow eating freak!"

Jay just laughs at me. I grunt and cross my arms. I look over and see Mandy a few aisles down. I perk up and run over to her.

"Mandy!" I call. She turns around just in time for me to grab her and spin her.

She grunts with surprise, "Maison!" she says, "put me down!"

I just laugh and keep spinning.

"Maison!" she complains.

"Put her down, green eyes!"

I stop spinning, surprised by the new, but familiar, voice. I put Mandy down and turn to face the red eyed girl behind us.

"Oh, it's you again." I say with a hint of disgust.

Rikki just grunts.

"Oh!" Mandy chimes, "you two have met! She claps her hands and smiles. "Now we can all be friends!"

Right, 'friends'. Wait.

I look at Mandy like she's gone crazy. "Friends?!"

Mandy smiles with delight. I look at Rikki. She smiles. That smile soon turns to a mischievous smirk.
