Chapter 14 (Tay)

"Good morning!" I call as I walk downstairs to my family who were all in the kitchen. Mom is cooking, Dad is reading and Leah is playing with my magical pen of death. Ah, yes everything is perfectly norma- wait what?!

"Leah!"

Everyone looks at me. I glare at Leah then look at my parents awkwardly.

"What's wrong sweetie?" Mom says, "She's just playing with a pen"

"Yeah!" Leah says innocently.

"It's..." I say, "No. Leah I told you not to use my pen."

Leah grunts. "Watch me!" she says. She puts her finger on the button and is about to click it.

"No!" I scream. I run over and snatch it from her.

"Tay!" Leah cries as I run out of the room.

"Taylor Marie Johnson!" Mom calls out to me, "Come back here this instant!"

"Sorry!" I say, "I just remembered I have to do something, bye!" I quickly run out of the house and towards Mandy's.

"Mandy!" I call as I run. She opens her window and looks down at me. "Open the door!" I yell.

"Tay-Tay!"

I look back to see Leah chasing me. I scream and run faster. I reach the door to Mandy's house just as she opens it and run it, slamming the door behind me. Leah bangs on the door and yells at me.

"What did you do?" Mandy asks me.

"Don't worry," I say, "everything's fine. We're just playing a little game of keep away." I give her an awkward smile. She looks at me suspiciously.

Minka comes running down the stairs towards Mandy and me. "Mandy!" she says, "Can I go play with Leah?"

Mandy looks at her. "Why are you asking me?"

"Because Mommy is still sleeping and Daddy is at work." Minka says.

"Well she won't be sleeping for long." Mandy mutters. "Yeah, you can go out. She's here anyway." Mandy reaches over and grabs the door handle.

"Wait!" I say.

Too late. The instant Mandy opens the door Leah comes running in and tackles me to the ground.

Minka and Mandy just stare as my sister and I scream and yell at each other.

"I want the pen!" Leah yells.

"No!" I yell back. I hold the pen above my head. "Mandy!" I call, "catch!"

"What?!" Mandy say, "Wait!"

I don't wait. I throw the pen towards her. She scrambles to grab it. It bounces off her finger and falls. Minka reaches up and grabs it.

Leah jumps off of me and faces her friend. "Minka, give me the pen!"

Minka just stares at her.

"No don't give it to her!" I call.

Minka looks at me. She looks up at Mandy as if she were waiting for her to say something.

Mandy gives her a serious look and mutters one word:

"Run."

Minka whips around and runs out the front door. Leah screams and chases her. Mandy watches as I get up off the ground and walk over to her.

"Where are they going?" I ask.

"I have no idea." Mandy says. She walks out and follows the two younger girls. I follow after her.

Mandy and I watch as the two girls run in circles around the cul-de-sac, screaming and yelling.

"What will happen if Leah gets the pen?" Mandy asks.

"Chaos" I reply.

"More than it is now?"

"Yup."

"Minka, give it!" Leah yells. She runs over to Minka and tackles her into the pavement, causing her to drop the pen.

"No!" I scream.

Everything seems to go in slow motion as the pen flies through the air. It falls to the ground and lands right on the button activating its scythe mode.

"No!" I cry.

"Dang it Tay!" Mandy yells, "This is what happens when you ask for a magical pen that can turn into a lethal weapon!"

"No!" I cry again.

Leah screams and backs away from the weapon, leaving Minka on the ground crying over a scratched elbow. Mandy goes over to help Minka.

I run over and grab the scythe changing it back to a pen. I turn and face Leah. "Leah listen-!"

"How many of your other crazy stories are true?!" Leah screams.

"Leah, listen!" I yell.

"Wait what?" Mandy says, she looks at me. "Tay what did you do?!"

"I-!"

"Tay!"

My eyes go wide. I look over to see two glowing blue eyes glaring straight at me.

"J-Jay..."

'I am so dead.'
