"Where are we going?" I ask Rex, my goblin 'pet', though he's not exactly a pet more like a parent or older brother. Yeah it's complicated...
He doesn't answer me, he just tells me to make sure those girls aren't following us.
I sigh and glance back. We're a good distance from the house, but I could still see it sticking out of the trees. There's no one following us which is good. Or at least I don't think anyone is following us.
I look back to Rex. "What are we doing anyway?" I ask.
"We need to check the source," He replies, "You're sure no one is following us?"
"Yes, I'm sure." I say, "But why do we have to check it? I think I would know if something is wrong-"
He shushes me. I groan, "Rex!"
"Hush!" He says, looking around the small foresty area. I groan with annoyance, but stay quiet and look around myself.
"What's wrong?" I ask after a while.
Rex doesn't answer.
"Rex-?"
*snap*
I jump slightly at the sound and look around.
"You see anything?" I hear a voice say
"No, you?" another voice says
"If I did why would I ask if you did?"
"Ugh, whatever."
'Okay, that's definitely not the girls from earlier.' I think, 'unless they're able to make themselves sound like grown men.' I start to panic and look down at Rex. He twitches his ears. I glance back and notice two figures walking between the trees. 'Oh crap!' I quickly grab Rex and climb up the nearest tree.
We look down through the leaves to try and see who's there. I see two men; one has a brown coat and pants, and a matching brown hat with a black stripe on it. His friend had a navy blue vest instead and Dark brown pants But looks don't matter, what I want to know is what they're looking for. I could just barely make out what they were saying.
"Where could it be?" I hear the hatted man say.
"The sewer?" his friend suggests looking into the flood drain thing (let's just call it the ditch)
"Jerry, don't be ridiculous," the hatted man says, "Why on earth would something able to grant you great power be in the sewer?"
Oh of course
"It's the last place you'd expect?" Jerry says with a shrug.
The hatted man rolls his eyes "go ahead I doubt you'll find anything." He walks away.
"Bet I will!" Jerry calls back. He then jumps down into the ditch and starts to look around.
"Oh no, he's close!" I squeak out.
"What I tell ya?" Rex says.
"Don't do this right now." I say. I quickly jump from one tree to another to get closer to the ditch where Jerry is. I peek out and see him examining the wall. Dammit, why is this guy so smart?! He stops and stares at the wall for a bit. Okay I can't wait anymore!
I quickly jump down from the tree and into the trench. I then throw a knife at him slicing his arm. He cries in pain and glares at me.
I glare back at him; my eyes and hands glowing a bright blue color. He notices the glowing and a smirk forms on his face. "Oh, look who we have here." He says, "I must be close."
